Serious question....

Serious and a little personal -- so If anyone wants to fm me-- thats great. Has anyone stayed on an anti-depressent medication during pregnancy? Curious? Any info would be great ?

I dont know that you are allowed to..
maybe there are some catagory B ones out there.
For my last pregnancy I took them AFTER for post pardom.
If they are safe to take while pregnant then there would be nothing wrong with it, for some reason I don't think they would be though...

Re: Serious question....

I am almost positive that Prosac is OK and there are other ones that are too, but I don't have first hand knowledge...the doctor definitely knows...and can make the best switch...based on the person's needs

I have read though that going off anti-depressants while PG can cause miscarriages...so its probably better to switch to a category B well before becoming PG

Re: Serious question....

My FSIL took them before she was prego. Now that she is she had to come off some meds but she is able to take others. If you want the full scoop I will ask her for details.

One of my closest friends had to take them post partum, and when she was ready to TTC again, she was told to stop taking them. Now that she's had her baby, I am pretty sure she's back on them again.

I know that there are different meds that you can take during pregnancy and that you really need to discuss this with your OB and your psychologist. Both need to be on the same page about which meds you NEED and which sorta help you and which you need to be phased off of. I think it also depends on your condition as pregnancy hormones can make some women very depressed.

I would definately speak to your doctors prior to TTC though.
