Seriously...

When you invite people to your wedding..is it really true that 20 percent do not come?
our list is like 315...i hope only 250 come

we invited around 200 people, and only had 110 people there. I'd say thats more than 20%.

My entire family is OOT though so I only expected about that many people to actually come.

20% is the average and a good rule of thumb. However it is not an exact science and I have it seen it extreme in both directions.

They say that, but we had 87% yes.... be careful if you are planning on fewer people coming! We had to go back and order a larger cake, more food, etc...

it really depends on a few different factors....

time of year (is it close to christmas? crazy time of year for some people)
location of wedding (OOT guests)
day of the week
How many on your list are close relatives and friends and how many are casual aquaintances??

This is my second marriage. My last wedding we invited our closest family way in advance (3 months) so we could possibly add to our list of friends. Just an idea.

but as for my work people...im praying they dont come...LOL at least some of them.

some have kids and the others im not close with.

then as for my friends...i mean maybe they will come, maybe not.

but heres the other thing...louie and i are liked by a lot of people...so i am thinking almost everyone will come..

If you're not close with some of the people you work with, why bother inviting them then?

If most of your guests are in the area, and it's not a holiday, and you sent out save the dates, I think you can probably count on a pretty high 'yes' rate.

Our MD told us it's 10-15 percent no!!!!! We are going through this right now to see how many people we are inviting ....we have a min of 250 and right now our list is 375 we need to cut it but i just don't want to cut too much so we make our minimum.

Those save the dates can screw you in the end if you were hoping for a lot of declines.

Did you send them out already? If NOT, my suggestion is to only send them to people you 100% want to come or only to OOT guests. Once you send someone a STD, you can't cut them from the list.
