I am watching that show on TLC I'm pregnant and 55. Sometimes it's time to give up on your dream lady. When the child is 16 his father will be 80!!!

I saw that episode definitely strange. I really feel after 40 I just don't think I'd want to try. At that point you kids are living with you when you are retired.

Hell Yeah it's selfish!. If you wanted to be a mother so badly why didn't you look into adopting an older child.

It is a little weird and creepy.
Why didn't you think of having kids earlier?

ITA. There's a reason it's harder to conceive as you get older... there are all kinds of ethical issues with that, and it's not for me to say what anyone else should do but at some point you have to think of someone other than yourself...namely the potentially sickly, disabled, and potentially early orphaned baby you're going to have.
Yes anyone can die at any time, which is one of her defenses... but you're increasing the odds of this kid growing up without parents exponentially and when young people die, often there are grandparents or aunts and uncles to step in but when you're older, those people are likely to be gone as well!
This show, the whole series is riveting, by the way, I love watching it.

Re: seriously disturbed
I agree...it is selfish. Not too long ago, the oldest woman to give birth died leaving behind infant twins.
MADRID (AP) — A Spanish woman who deceived a U.S. fertility clinic about her age and become the oldest woman to give birth has died at 69, leaving behind 2-year-old twins, newspapers reported Wednesday. Maria del Carmen Bousada gave birth in December 2006 after telling a clinic in Los Angeles that she was 55, the facility's maximum age for single women receiving in-vitro fertilization. Guinness World Records said the 66-year-old was the oldest on record to give birth and the case ignited fierce debate over how much responsibility fertility clinics have over their patients.
Bousada told an interviewer at the time that the Pacific Fertility Center did not ask her for identification, and maintained that because her mother had died at 101, she stood a good chance of living long enough to raise her children.
It is distrubing but hopefully they will love this child and the kid won't call them his grandparents!
