SERIOUSLY?!!? NWR: WORK VENT

So I just got an email from one of my bosses confirming (his words) that I will be bringing my blackberry on my HM . Then he said he has a trial starting two days after I'm back, so he'd appreciate it if I would think about coming home early!!!

W T F????

I responded that I wasn't bringing my BB (which is a lie) on my HM and that I am not cutting short my HM. I attached a copy of my official vacation request which was approved by the partner I work for directly.

He replied that's 'ok' if I don't want to cut it short 'as long as you are available by phone or email for any questions I may have.' I responded that I won't be available but that I am sure HIS paralegal can handle it.

I wanted to remind him that she's the paralegal who makes more $$ than I do but knows less so he comes to me for everything, but he won't do anything about it because they're such good 'friends.'

Are you f'n kidding me????

My direct report (another partner) said I should reply to him 'bite me' but that may get me fired

Hold your ground. That's absurd. It's a once in a lifetime wedding and honeymoon, if some bitter people don't realize that- it's their problem not ours.

Are people that clueless and self absorbed to not realize what they are asking of you?

Seriously! As if they would even truly know how to appreciate something like that. People are bitter and mean and stuipid!

I get ya! I've been doing this for 20 years and really love what I do - BUT I am getting married once! I told them all when I got engaged, I'm taking a month off. I got it approved LAST November.

I feel your pain!! I am getting in on Oct 5th very late and my idiot boss is making me work on Oct 6th bright and early. I fought with him about it for a while so now i get to work from home on the 6th and 7th and come back the 8th.... meanwhile I have the time and want to take off until the following week to relax!!! ugh

Then about 5 minutes later, I was called into a meeting with the 4 partners. K (the partner who wanted me to cut my HM short) actually apologized to me! He said he was wrong to ask me to bring my BB and to cut short my HM! and that I shouldn't worry about it.

I know it's because my boss made him do it but I'm glad he did. I still hate him though.
