seriously!! what are some people thinking?!

ok... so we got married a little over 2 years ago. theres a family i grew up with- its the parents and three adult 'kids' ( in their late 20s). all three of the 'kids' have good jobs. the one had a serious boyfriend at the time, so she brought him along as her date. so a total of 6 people from this one family came. we got $150 from all 6 of them!! the 'kids' who all had good jobs, didn't even give us their own cards!
anyway- fast forward 2 years, and now the girl and her serious boyfriend are engaged. they are getting married next november. my mom talked to her mom last night, and apparently my parents and DH and i are invited- not my sister or her DH we invited thier whole family, but they're not inviting all of our family?? and like i said, their 'kids' and my sister and i grew up together, so its not liek theyr'e closer to one of us than the other... just a little rude, i think...

So you all grew up together and they all came to your wedding but they're not inviting your sis to theirs?

Rude.

i know!! LOL i told DH we weren't going to! and i think their gift is just gonna be something small off the registry. what do they expect when they didn't give us a gift or even one of the .99 hallmark cards?!?!

It is rude. Are you sure that your sis is not invited, after all, it is too early for invites to go out and this is all just word of mouth.
Decline the invitation and just send a small gift from their registry.
This girl most likely will not remember how her family stiffed you at your wedding, but will talk about it if you do the same to her.

I know it's not really the same thing, but we had a family of 4 (my dad's cousin) come to my bat mitzvah and give a $75 savings bond. The father is a doctor! i think we're still inviting them to the wedding. it should be interesting to see what happens

I just saw the post above me and totally agree. It's rude! you should decline the invite and send a small registry gift. they wont remember but they will talk about it if you stiff them..

It is rude IMO. I would give them a gift off of their registry instead of $$$.

LOL seriously! or we'll just give them $100, since they gave us $150 for 6 people ( $25 a person)... and only 4 of us are gonna go.. so thats $100 for 4 people! is that bad?!?

Re: seriously!! what are some people thinking?!

that's extremely rude!!!! not sure if I'd give them a cheapo gift or just try to be the better person and give a normal gift....it's hard to say without being in the situation......sorry they've put you in such a tough spot!

i think that is so rude, honestly i wouldnt even go. You had the respect to invite their whole family and they arent inviting yours. Thats not right. If u do go... i wouldnt give them a good gift!

You can always decline and send a card (nothing in it) and sign it from all of you including your uninvited sis... LOL

that might be a little too harsh though :(

Re: seriously!! what are some people thinking?!

hmm - su cky situation but i try not to judge these things...are they paying for the wedding themselves or do they maybe have a major budget if the parents are??? i know it's etiquette that yes u all should be invited, but when DH & i got married, we paid for everything ourselves, and there were some people we just couldn't invite...we just had a humongous family.. so our friends & people's 'guests' and stuff were very limited. It does seem a little tacky..especially being that u grew up with the family, but after planning our own wedding it taught us a lot & i try not to expect anything or judge anything... they may just be in a tight spot that u're unaware of. Try not to let it hinder ur relationship!

ps: i do 100% agree that the 'kids' not even giving u a card is ridiculous!
