Seriously what is wrong with people?
I have never really vented too much on here about wedding-related stress...but NO ONE else seems to truly understand except other brides.
My FMIL needs final numbers fro the RD fairly soon. When I sent out invites to the RD, I put 'regrets only' for 3 reasons: fairly small number of people involved (about 30), all mailed to grown ADULTS that are otherwise successful, functioning members of society, and I honestly expected most of those responses to be YES's.
Since I have recently realized that you have to walk grown adults (most of them married) through every phase of this wedding process step by step, I decide that I have to actually call people and find out a) if they are in fact coming to the RD and b) if they are bringing the guest they were invited with.
I place one such call yesterday, and the response was 'Oh, X isn't coming with me, and to be honest, I don't think I will be coming to the restaurant part, just the Church. I get way too tired on weeknights, and I just don't have it in me' Um, okay. When were you planning on telling me this!!?
It is something minor like this that just really made me snap! I got over things like the fact that my cousin has some immigration issues and I was told by my Aunt (when I called her b/c I never got her daughter's response) that her situation is 'day to day.' Fine...but then just commit to saying NO, she can't make it. I needed to have my final count and seating chart in by last Friday!
Other mindblowing situations: the defiant BM that just HAS to distinguish herself in some way from the others...first it was repositioning the sash higher so that she could 'look taller,' then b/c her dress was 'so enormous' on her that her seamstress suggested 'cutting off the train of the dress entirely'. Whaaaaaaat?? This is same person that wanted to make sure I was tanning before the wedding, b/c she was, and she didn't want me to look pasty next to her!!
I know the big day will be worth all of this...but when most of my stress is caused by family and friends..it is that much more upsetting/frustrating!
