We’re trying to cut costs ANY way possible. I went to vistaprint to design my invites. I went with the included matte paper; matching personalized envelopes (extra $); Reception card; response cad w/matching envelope (extra $) and envelope seal.
In all I’m paying about $3.65/invite not including postage. I’m really thinking now maybe I should go to Michael’s and buy one of their invitation kits? I got a 50% off coupon in the mail! Will that really save me a ton of $$???
At this point; I feel like if it’s a difference of $1/invite and the stress of having to deal with printing them myself and worry about aligning the printer & margins etc. Maybe it’s worth the extra $$?
HELP!!

Re: seriously...when to stop being cheap
I am queen cheap-o I got my invites at walmart on clearence for 15$ a pack of 25. When i break it down it comes to 65 cents per invite before tax!!!! I'm too broke to spend more I was going to do AC Moore/Michaels and buy each box with the 40% but stumbled upon these.

Re: seriously...when to stop being cheap
I was pumped to make my own invites when we first got engaged, even promised FH that it'll be an area where we can save money ( ). But in the end, after pricing things out, not even having a printer let alone extra time, I went with getting them done.
The couple of hundred dollars I will be saving was not worth the stress for me. I am fortunate enough to have access to overtime so I'd rather work a weekend to cover the difference...
Laziness also plays a factor but I am happy to take one more thing off the list
eta: I'm also super a nal when I'm doing crafty stuff so I know it will take me FOREVERRRRRR and some tears.

If it's an extra dollar, go with the easier invitations! It will be worth it because you'll be less stressed. I'm having someone else make my programs because I can't deal with making myself crazy so close to the wedding.

I am not sure on the pricing of mine but I think it's about $1/invite or less... I got the kits from Target and printed fairly easy.. You just need to have a bit of patience to use the templates they provide and take the time to get them to your liking.
Ps. I found the Michael's kits to be more expensive than Target actually

Thanks ladies!
I'm really torn-for the money I'll be saving by DIY i just don't know if it's worth the headache & aggrevation. I'm already saving a ton going through vistaprint.

If youre already seeing it as a headache then I think you should save yourself the stress. I went for DIY invites but I love that stuff and really wanted to save the money, but it definitely was time consuming! Plus if youre already saving money through vista print vs. ordering them from somewhere else I dont know if you should worry about it....unless the budget is really really tight in which I agree, see if you can call in some help!

Re: seriously...when to stop being cheap
you could definitely buy really cheap invite kits at michaels and DIY. or maybe you could cut costs by printing some of the components of the invitation on your own instead of ordering through vista?
i know FutureJOC did an additional insert on her own after she ordered her invites from invitationsbydawn.com and everything looks awesome together.

Re: seriously...when to stop being cheap
thanks ladies!! I'm just being CHEAP LOL!
We've scaled back our wedding WAY down; and are having something VERY small; so i only really need a few invites since I'm doing 1 invite per couple. I'm just being cheap.
If we were getting 100 invites then i really couldn't pay to have them printed! We're only ordering 25 invites So i need to stop be cheap and think of all the money i saved by NOT inviting the other 100 people we cut from the list!

Re: seriously...when to stop being cheap
mine came out to like 1.25 per invite from Micheal's they were very hard to print out and my MOH came over to help me put them together
It's slightly time consuming...but It was crazy work
I guess do what your budget allows.

Re: seriously...when to stop being cheap
I would get them done rather than deal with added stress
