slight vent. ok, i must be living under a rock here but i had no clue that the service charge was taxable and isn't gratuity for the waiters. i feel like i've been cheated!
ugh.
so now that we got that off my chest.... how much are you tipping the waiters? what's customary?

it depends on your venue, but at most venues it does cover tip for all service staff except for your bridal attendant and maitr'd. i would talk to your BM at your venue and find out exactly what it covers. and yes, it is taxable - which is ridiculous!

I am sorry but... I think IT IS INCLUDED...
My FH used to work in WCC and they paid them $10 an hr... They Get tipped ONLY if the Bride/Groom Give them MORE.... But they got a salary....
I am Not tipping my waiters... UNLESS someone goes ABOVE & BEYON but i mean REALLY above & beyond... I was told at my contract that the Service feeIncludes their payment!...

You should def check Aly - because this is how my venue worked. Taxing that is ridic - I totally agree!!!

I think they all get $10... But it is UP to U if u want to paid MORE...
We will paid TIP to whoever goes above n beyond of them...

this, plus I know (my fh does it) he pays whoever is closest to him (waiter, waitress, bartender) to make sure he doesnt have an empty glass all night-- (freakin sucks for me bc hes so annoying when hes drunk hahaha) but remember, ppl at the wedding may also be doing some tipping!

At my hall I was told only to tip the Maitre'D and Bridal Attendants.
The tips for everyone else are included in the svc charge.

Let me know what you find out - I know the Maitre D' is definately already included in what we're paying (there is an extra charge). I also think this includes the Bridal Attendant, but I'm not 100% sure.

When I worked at catering halls you did not get tips! All gratuity goes to the hall. Bartenders only get tipped if your guests leave them money, which is common.
