Setting Goals
Keeping focus in the gym is NEVER being content. If you always have something to look forward to, something to work for, you can never get satisfied. So when setting goals, do not make them cut and dry but make them reachable.
Set 2 sets:
Short Term - Goals to keep proving progress.
Long Term - Goals you will need to really work at.
Short Term Goals could be anything. You know your schedule is going to be rough, set a goal that you will be in the gym 3 times for that week.
Long Term are hard goals. Goals that will take a while to achieve. Fitting into an old pair of jeans, have the body for the bathing suit in the store window. Whatever it may be, these are goals that you will not accomplish in a week, month, sometimes a year or more.
You should write goals down and use other mental games to keep you focused through the rough times. Do those collages (like from you may have done in school) in a notebook. Tack a picture someplace where you will see it. Use fitday.com - The 'journal' area can really tell you what you are thinking and writing stuff down has always helped me and something I frequently recommend. If you encounter something in the future, you can use them to get back on focus.
PLEASE DO NOT USE SCALE WEIGHT AS A GOAL!! Have I ever said that before?
