OMG Jenny5150 CHINA - they gave us watermelon at every meal - TRY being there for 6 weeks - and their pizza hut there was soo good after the food they thought they would feed us I did lose weight - there though - between the horrid heat- 105degrees plus the humidity - we lived on rice, veggies, and watermelon. Great for a quicky diet NOT good for 6 weeks. They guys were all dying. Were did you go? do you have photos?

Rob-luvs-me, We stayed in Bejing, but had to visit a few rural towns/cities for FH's business (his factories are in the rural towns.) Then Shanghai and finally Hong Kong. Fortunately Shanghai and Hong Kong are relatively normal. We were only there for 2 weeks and hit Hawaii for another 7 days on the way home! No complaints about Hawaii's food though!

We stayed in Jimeii right outside of Xiamen, we spent 4 days in Hong Kong, 5 in Beijing, and 4 in Xian.
We saw the the terra cotta soldiers in Xian, the great wall, Ming's tombs, The summer palace, the temple of heaven, etc.
We also took some day trips to the country and say the giant seated Lao Tsu. And to numerous buddhist temples.
Actually the food in the restaurants we ate at was quite good but it was the food they served us at the place we stayed that left a little to be desired (althought our accomadations were gorgeous)
Besides the food the trip was a once in a lifetime experience - I really loved it

Rob-luvs-me, Yeah, my FH made me walk part of The Great Wall. I whined the whole time. It was hot and muggy and those darn steps are steep!!! The best is when the old folks with canes were passing me by! That was quite embarrassing. We hit Tianamen Square, the silk market , and I can't remember what else. I have photos somewhere. Many of them are still packed away in the basement from our move (which was over a yr ago.)
I'll have to ask him where exactly we went. He'd know since he's there all the time on business. To him the trip was a nuisance. To me it was fascinating. Especially viewing the rural cultures. They were walking around barefoot, but with cell phones. Amazing.
