Who has done shellac manicure? who has done Light concept nails? What do you girls recommend?
I don't go for regular manicures cause the polish comes off so fast, doesn't make sense to me. but I want to start making my nails look pretty so they look good for the big day.
I heard that shellac is like a gel mani & the polish lasts for weeks. I heard LCN makes your nails weak.
Please help! TIA!

i did the gel mani for our wedding and it was great b/c it lasted for 2+weeks. I wasn't too crazy about the fact that it looked thick and i felt like it made my nails look fake.
i had a really hard time getting them off (i didn't go back to the salon b/c i never do my nails) and i pretty much ruined my nails). my sisters though got it done at a different place and theirs came off easily. it's nice if you want to do it this 1 time for your wedding plus have it last for your HM.

i love the shellac, i get it all the time!
and i am using my hands a lot, between work and bartending, cleaning my manicure would chip in a day
so i would rather spend teh $20 on a manicure knowing it will last me 2 weeks!

I got the UV Franch and my nails were destroyed. I REFUSE to do that again. They don't come off with remover they peel them off your nails! Horrid. I want to get somethign that will last through my honeymoon and can come off with remover. I have pretty strong nails and I don't want to ruin them.

i think shellac & gel are really similar. not sure how they remove the gel but if you watch the video i posted you will see how they remove the shellac. i heard great things about it and not so good things about the LCN - french. it really destroys your nails. yikes!

I got the shellac for the wedding and it was great!! It lasted 3 weeks, but it is a pain in the arse to get off. I don't keep my nails long since I can't for work, and I rarely get manis for that same reason, so I didn't want to go back to the salon just to take them off.
To get it off I had to soak my nails in pure acetone for 10 mins then rub it off with one of those cuticle sticks. It also pretty much ruined my nails, but less so than I've seen the gel mani do to my sisters nails.

Odd, I have found that when the Shellac is done...like at your 3 week mark, you can pretty much just start to peel it off without any acetone

i dont know what lcn is
but ive had shellac, i didnt see it as being any better than OPI gel.
they both take forever to soak off...but if taken off properly it shouldnt damage your nail, the gel should sorta flake off
and it looks just like a regular manicure, cannot tell the difference...it shouldnt look thick or fake, it is just nail polish that hardens under UV light
i would try it out before the wedding to make sure you like it. ive been doing gel manicures for at least a year now and I love it
for the wedding however, Im doing UV Gel- it is not a polish but a special gel they put on your nails, kinda like the acrylic gel but longer lasting and not as thick, if you ask them they can make it really natural, short and thin, you cant even tell my nails are fake with this stuff on bc i had them do it so thin...reason being is ill be on my HM for 2 weeks and Im doing a TTD shoot and I want my nails to really last...the gel can start chipping at the 2 week mark and who knows if people in mexico will know how to remove the gel anyway im blabbing on lol

I have pretty thin nails, so maybe they were just a little harsher for me! I still liked it though

I have been getting LCN for a long time and it hasn't weakened my nails at all. You DO have to go back to the nail salon to have them take it off. You should NEVER peel it off; That's what will destroy your nail.
