OK GIRLS SO MY NEIGHBORS FRIEND IS A TRAVEL AGENT AND MY NEIGHBOR TOLD ME THAT HER FRIEND JUST CAME BACK FROM A BEAUTIFUL PLACE AND I SHOULD LOOK INTO IT FOR MY HONEYMOON...SO SHE GAVE ME HERE NAME AND WE HAVE BEEN EMAILING BACK AND FORTH (ME AND THE TRAVEL AGENT) SHE HAS BEEN ANSWERING ALLLL MY QUESTIONS AND PRICING FOR ME..FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW.. AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I FIND OUT THAT ONE OF MY FH'S CLEINTS WIFE IS A TRAVEL AGENT AND SHE WANTED TO PRICE FOR US...AND SHE PRICED $500.OO CHEAPER!!! SO I TOLD THE OTHER TRAVEL AGENT THE PRICING TO SEE IF SHE CAN MATCH IT..AND SHE SAID 'OH WOW I HAD NO IDEA YOU WERE DEALING WITH ANOTHER TRAVEL AGENT, I KNOW YOU WANT THE BEST PRICE, BUT PLEASE REMEMEBER HOW MUCH TIME I SPENT ON THIS!' UHM IM SORRY I DONT HAVE $500 TO JUST THROW AROUND CUZ I FEEL LIKE BEING NICE..I MEAN ISNT HER JOB TO PRICE FOR ME? I DONT HAVE TO BOOK..I MEAN CANT I SHOP AROUND??? I FEEL BAD AND NOW I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!
She should have found you the best price! I wouldn't feel bad at all, She's probaly trying to make money off you.

First of all... Nobody should make you feel bad for shopping around.
Secondly, you weren't really shopping around... someone came to you with a better price!!
Thridly.. 500 bucks is 500 bucks!! She obviously is taking a much larger chunk for a commission,.. this is not your problem!
Lastly.. Rather then her guilt-trippeng you she should have done the right thing and MATCHED THE PRICE!!! You gave her the chance to do that!

pshaw - she should tried harder to get a better deal for you. I worked with a few TA's and i went with the one that got me the cheapest deal! And they were all pricing the same exact trip - flights and resorts and they all came in w/ different prices.

Totally dont feel bad. Thats ridiculous. You have no obligation to book with her. Thats not right that she is trying to use guilt to get you to book. That is not worth $500. Go with the best price.

I wouldnt feel bad. Her job is to find the best price so that you dont have to and if another travel agent found a better price I would go with the cheaper price. Nobody goes to a travel agent wanting to pay more. If she is trying to get a better cut thats not your problem.

Yea def do NOT feel bad. You have to look out for you. Its her job to price out and find you the best deal! And any one in their right mind would wanna book the cheaper one, she should understand that. Its not like you just blew her off either, you asked if she can match it. I wouldn't worry about it, you have to make sure you & FH get exactly what you want for the prices that you make you both happy. Don't worry about her!

I had a similar situation with the first TA I used...she ****** and kept suggesting what i didnt want so I finally told her I wasnt going to be using her and she was so nasty saying how much time and effort (including 1 phone call over the weekend) she spent with us...give me a break! its business! if you cant give me what i want, someone else will! dont feel bad!

i work for a car dealership and salespeople get annoyed if they get spend a lot of time with a person and then the person buys the car somewhere else
HOWEVER the reason they are mad is cause the customer didn't give them the opportunity to price match.
You gave her the chance to match, you went back to her with the quote instead of simply booking elsewhere
that was the ONLY courtesy her 'invested time' earned her.
