Shoe signing...what's that about?

Hey girls,

I've seen pics of bridesmaids signing the bottoms of the brides shoes. I've never heard of that, is this new? What does it symbolize? It seems really cool to do especially to commemorate the day. Any info would be awesome. TIA!

it started with all your single bridesmaids signing the bottom of your shoe and whom evers name was the most clear at the end of the night wouldbe the next to marry....now i think its more of just a cute custom.

you could still do it and have those who are unmarried sign... that is what I am doing even though most have boyfriends... it's supposed to be whose next to marry (not find a special someone to date) - same concepts as boq toss where all officially single people go up.
