So I'm trying to be the laid back bride. I'm not a fan of matchy-matchy and offered for the girls to get diffferent dresses in the same shade. They opted for the same dress, it's tea-length. Fine. But for shoes I said just wear gold....they can decided whether they want to do true gold or bronze...but I don't think the same shoe is necessary. I want some of their personality to come through, plus want them to wear the shoe afterwards. Well, my one BM thinks it will look funny and thinks everyone should have the same shoe. I'm just not into the whole head to toe coordination. What do you think?

Re: shoes with tea-length dresses
I was in the same boat you are now! I did tea-length dresses, and decided on silver shoes....and told my BMs to pick the shoes themselves so they'd be comfortable.
I got the same response you did - 'what shade of silver? Strappy sandle or more like a pump? Everybody's going to see our feet - it's much easier for you to tell us what to wear!!'
So, in the end, I picked out a sandle and they all matched. It looked really nice, and cut out all the questions.....But, as part of my gift to them I also bought them all flip flops to change into if they wanted to - and by the end of the night, they were all wearing them!

Re: shoes with tea-length dresses
sorry to crash, but I have tea length also and what I did was told my firls to get any silver shoe but to make sure they are open toe and have an ankle strap.
I think it would look kinda weird if some had straos and some didn't. So I just gave them guidelines to buying their shoes. They can get what ever size heel they want and some can spend more if they would like and some can go to payless

Considering you are seeing the shoes I say match... however I saw some that didn't and honestly it looked perfectly fine. So I think as long as it's some what the same shade, you'll be fine. HTH

I would just pick out a shoe - and tell them this is what they're going to wear.... I hear ya on the laid back bride thing - but they are going to give you more grief about this shoe thing than you'd like to have... Like the previous LIWer said, they are going to worry about their feet being shown... so, IMO you should just pick it out - and tell them where to go to get it.

I had tea length dresses and told my girls to just wear a white strappy sandle. I think it looked fine. They ended up with very similar shoes anyway...

I had tea length dresses and asked everyone to wear the same shoes. They went out together and picked them out, so everyone was happy with them.

Re: shoes with tea-length dresses
I'm the MOH in my friend's wedding in NOV. We have espresso t-lenghth dresses & are all wearing different gold shoes. PIC of mine that just came in the mail today. I ordered them at Aerosoles (they are on sale now, and if they don't have them in a store- they can ship them to your home for FREE). I paid $29 for them! And, they are sooo comfortable.
I had dyeables... I let them choose between 4 pairs of shoes that were the same kind of shoe but different styles. They all came in different heel hight and some had wide widths.
Guess what they all ordered the same one anyway.

Re: shoes with tea-length dresses
just let them pick their own shoes in the same color. It really doesn't matter - and honestly, I can't say I'd ever notice.
Also, as somebody who has a lot of trouble finding shoes that don't hurt my feet, I'd be pretty upset if I HAD to wear a specific pair of shoes, because honestly, there's a really good chance that I CAN'T wear that pair of shoes without being in pain all day - different people have different shaped feet, and different needs - one person may want lower heels, another may be more comfortable with taller ones, another may need more arch support, etc, etc.
Let them pick their own shoes. It will look fine! And this way they can't actually choose shoes that they LIKE and will want to wear again.

Re: shoes with tea-length dresses
I did this. I had my girls all waer different color dresses but same cololor shoe; silver. They chose the style and height they were comfortable with and it didnt look funny at all. Very frankly, you dont see their feeet! I mean when you do in pics its TINY so stressing out about it is something we do to make ourselves nuts. Itsuch a small detail. Let them wear what they like but I would stick to none color; either all gold or all bronze. That uniies them all.

Re: shoes with tea-length dresses
My BMs wore tea length dresses and I simply told them what shoe to wear. It was an open-toe kitten heel, so it was hopefully pretty comfortable for everyone. In a case like this, it may simply be easier on you and the BMs to select one so long as your choice is reasonable in terms of comfort.

Thats what I did. My girls wore the same tea-length dress and whatever shoes they wanted so long as they were silver. You can check my album. My girls were all totally different adn different heights so I did not think it was fair to restrict them to the same shoe. They were all happy and all looked great.

i say get a feel from ALL of them on what they think about it and go from there. they may all agree to go with the same shoe. if not, let them all get what they want since you dont mind it not being matchy matchy.

Yeah the other girls seem to be all for the different shoes since everyone has different budgets, different heel preferences, etc. I told the one who wanted the same shoes that they can make a decision as a group, but I wanted them to know that I was not 'making' anyone go out and buy a specific shoe.
