The news just said that Davis died, and the gunman was his political opponent. They are now saying that the gunman is also dead.

this is so crazy - i was in a mtg with some people who work at the mayor's office at the time (and just got back!) - and we all found out - its a very confusing place down there right now. i just met with james davis last month - i can't imagine how a gun got in there - securtiy is very tight. my thoughts are with all who were down there today as well as his family and friends.

My hubby just called me, he was just at a graduation with Council man davis where they both spoke, I truly respected this man and all that he does for our community. I do not know what could have possibly made this man want to shoot him. This is a very sad day for our community. I was at my desk crying. I am sending up prayers for his family. This is such a loss of a good man. Then the evil live long to reign on the earth, while the good die young.

channel 7 is now saying that he was there with the entourage for James Davis and now the other person is now dead and they are assuming this is the gunman.

FH used to work in the mayor's office up until March...He knew Davis and is pretty upset...I am sooo glad he is not working in the city anymore- He worked at the WTC from 7/01 till of course 9/11, but was out that day campaigning for the primaries..
Now I have more blessings to count!!!

Davis is the Councilman of my district. He was just at my church a few weeks ago. This is awful!!

My DH called me earlier this afternoon to tell me what was happening--and to let me know he was okay. He's a Sgt for NYPD. This world is really going crazy. What next?

I wonder what's behind the whole thing?

councilman davis was killed by a gunman he knew. it was a political rival.

the gunman was later killed by a civilian clothed cop

I did not even realize what happened until I got home. Now I know why there was no traffic coming home..(since they closed the bridges) Kind of eerie how noone was on the road.
