How far in advance do you need to make an appointment to try on bridal gowns? I want to get my gown on LI, but a lot of times we don't decide to come down for the weekend until Thursday night. I guess what I'm asking is can I make an appointment on a Friday and get in on Saturday? Can I just walk in? And what are the typical weekend hours for bridal shops. I keep putting it off but I know I really need to start looking. Thanks so much!

Re: Shopping for gown
It depends on where you go. Some places you can just walk in to and start looking around and trying on... other places you need to make an appt. I think most wedding places are open until 5:00pm on Saturday's and most, if not all of them are closed on Sunday's. I would compile a list of places and call them to see what their hours are. Depending on how far apart they are from one another, you may be able to visit a couple of places in one day.

Re: Shopping for gown
I think its definitly harder to get a weekend appointment, and the places I called all wanted an appointment, I thinks its b/c if you want to try on dresses, someone has to help you.

Re: Shopping for gown
Weekend appointments are definitely harder to get. Be prepared to arrange your schedule around when you can get an appointment. Some places like RK Bridal in NYC, don't require an appointment, but once you get there you may have to wait.
When I was looking for gowns, often I would book appointments two weeks in advance.
