Shopping for Gown

I am going dress shopping with my mother this weekend, (first time) and was wondering which dress shop near or in Nassau County would be for the first place to go. I need a big selection because I am very picky, and I also want an attentive attendant.

I agree with your cousin...an announced dance (perhaps after the one with your father) would be sweet and appropriate. Perhaps you could ask him which song HE'D liked played...that way, he'll be included in the idea and be forewarned.

Jessica, I'm in the same boat. My father-in-law-to-be doesn't have a daughter either, and I would like to know some of the ideas you come across.

My wedding is at the Chateau Le Mer in Lindenhurst on August 31, 2001. I am very picky, so I felt that I should start looking 1 1/2 years in advance in case it took awhile (watch, I'll find my dress in the first store I look.)

Good Luck and I'm glad to hear everything worked out well for you.

What were the price ranges? What is a middle-road price range?

We are looking to get married in the fall of 2000. We don't want to have the reception in a typical catering hall. If anyone knows of a place that is unique, please let me know.

I'm sorry to hear that you are blue, honey but I have one thing to add: PRAY, and this too shall pass....

In response to Kleinfeld's... a friend of mine had gone there and was happy with her dress but not with the store. They ordered her a size much too large for her and claimed that even though they measured her, they always order a certain size no matter what (or something like that - one of those things that bridal magazines warn about). Then she was charged an extra $500 for alterations. Toward the end, she could not get a live person on the phone when the dress was late - but she did get it on time.

Thanks for the warning! My sister and I went there on Saturday and we were very impressed. It is such a huge operation, and it is so organized! We got the same salesperson,Judith, that I had 9 years ago when I bought my dress. My sister purchased a Scaasi dress that had just come in. Of course, we went in with about 10 pictures and Judith showed us about 7 of the 10 pictures that we brought. While we did'nt like what we had chosen, we absolutely loved the ones that the salesperson chose. They really know what looks best on certain body types.

Again, Thanks Again for the heads up on the ordering problem there, I am not overly concerned about the ordering problems. It's really just a dress it would not destroy the day if things did not work out. Everything works out in the end!!

I went to two weddings there in the past few months. To me it seemed like a factory with no personal attention. At the end of my best friends wedding they rushed her out because there was another wedding after hers that they had to get ready for. The DJ (house DJ) stopped playing ten minutes before the end to aid in the get'm outta here for the next wedding turn around.
