maybe the price difference is due to the brand? are you looking at designer wedding bands? are they from department stores? private jewlery stores? a lot of factors come in to play...sometimes its the quality/clarity/color of the diamonds that plays a huge factor in the price....2 diamond rings can look exactly alike but have different specifications...thus the high and low price.

Re: shopping for wedding bands
We mostly went to little moms and pops jewelry stores. None of the stores mentioned specifications of the diamonds other than the karat size and cut (I was looking at princess to match my engagement ring cut). How much is everyone else paying for theirs?? Can anyone recommend a trustworthy jeweler?
Sorry for the earlier empty posts, I was attempting to send from my phone, and it obviously was not working!!

Re: shopping for wedding bands
I got my diamond wedding band from Italian Design jewelers at Tri-county and was happy with the look and quality of the ring. I would recommend them.
As someone said, the prices can depend alot on the quality of the stones. I went to several of the booths there and the prices were similar but some rings had no sparkle to them at all. I found the ring that matched my e-ring but it was so dull that I went with Italian designs which was close but not identical because the stones were bright and shone. So take a good look at the rings when you go and even in the same store compare them. You might want to ask to see some of less and better quality so you can see the differences.
Color wise D is the best and the stores I think basically show alot of G-H which is pretty good. When you start seeing I color that's when prices get lower. Clarity indicates the inclusions, flaws in the stones. I have bought VS and SI which have inclusions that are minor and shouldn't be see with naked eye - - only with a jewelers loupe - - ie 'eye clean'. If they show you ones with clarity I1 or I2, that's includes which means you may see the flaws w/o loupe and those prices would be lower.
if they don't offer the info I would ask about the color and clarity and if they can't tell you . . . well if the price isn't too high and you really really like the ring, then I'd buy it but if it's way expensive and they can't give you details, I think I'd walk away.
hope that helps.
with the prices of gold being so high now, I can't help you with exact prices because I bought my jewelry when gold was lower and the jump I think makes a big difference is prices these days - - that's why we're seeing more jewelery in sterling silver.
