Shopping guilt

Shopping guilt

anyone ever get that after making purchases you know you cant afford?

As I stayed home today to catch up on sleep, clean and run errands, the lure of shopping without DH on my back about it pulled at me..and I relented..Figuring shopping is much more of an ideal way to waste a vaction day then sleeping or cleaning..

Now 3 hours later, I have a stack of bags sitting in my Dining room of things.... I need...(well maybe) ... yet cant ratoinalize affording..and feel a little sick to my stomach over.

I kinda stare at the bags now and then, thinking if I dont make an efoort to take the stuff out of the bags, maybe I can forget all about it..

Anyone ever get that sick guilty feeling? And HOW DO I MAKE IT GO AWAY?

Only way I get it rid of that feeling, i sto return at least ONE item...don't ask me why, but if I return one (could be for 5 bucks) it makes me feel more responsible.

Do you NEED need them, or just want them? If you really can't afford it and you don't NEED them, return them.

I do that in the store - I'll pile a bunch of stuff, and then rationalize that I don't need any of it. Very theraputic.

I have debated this...BUT I cant think of one item meaning more or less to me then the other...hence my other issue of why I love a $1.99 magazine as much as a nice pair of $40 sandals???? Call it a sickness, but I love ALL STUFF equally! ...

OR WAIT....Can I say that the fact I put TWO pairs of JEans and a pair of shoes back in the store before I bought the stuff is enough? Does that count?

I ALWAYS feel guilty, even if I NEED it and can afford it!!!

Go through what you bought, can you filter through and return SOME of it so that way you're happy and you're not spending ALL that money???

You just got married and went through a rough year or so of constantly saving. Chalk it up to you deserve it just this once!

Re: Shopping guilt

Every single time I buy something, there's always a little voice in my head saying 'Should you REALLY be buying this? Do you really need it right now?' And it continues to nag me as I pay for the item, the whole car ride home, etc. I don't think there's any way to stop the guilt and it stinks. I bought some clothes for a job interview last month and ended up heading back to the store and returning everything. I haven't bought myself something (aside from food) in a long time

I figure, I work my @ss off and nearly sell my soul for my paycheck, so I am entitled for some shopping sprees every once in a while! So long as I can pay the mortgage and buy food, everything else is fair game!

Heyyyyyy, don't encourage me! It's been over a month since I've shopped aside from food shopping and yet DH insists I spend too much money! I would especially love to buy baby stuff. Ever since I found out I'm having a boy, I've been dying to start decorating his room!

I took all back last night, ended up spending another $50 though on costume jewerly and a top...but 'on sale' does not work anymore...the guilt creeps up and i have been known to HIDE the stuff so DH won't see it!
