Short engagement!

We are getign married in a litle over 7 months. We wiull have been engaged almost 11 months. I know that is not terribly short, but I feel liekeveryoen else thinks so.
I jsut called a photographer & they are avaialble then & were really nice, but then he said, oh, you waiting till teh las minute or somethign like that -& i said, no short engagemnt. He was nice about it, I think he was just surprised.

and added to the fact that the photographer i was going to book is now booked & the hotel I was going to block rooms at isn't available & even my 1st church was booked, I'm feeling like I am SO behind.

One of my co workers had a 4 month engagement! I don't know how she did it.
anyone lese with short engametns feeling defeated?

My engagement will be ten months, and I did feel a little rushed. The only vendor that I might have done differently if I had more time and more choices is the band. But I still think the band we picked will do a great job. Keep looking! There are vendors available. Good luck!

It will all work out - from our engagement to wedding is less than 9 months so I know how you feel. We were very lucky that all of our first choices were available. I've also learned that with less planning time I've trusted my instincts more since I didn't have the time to second-guess myself.

Good luck!

We are getting married a little less than a year (3 weeks) after we got engaged. To be honest, I didn't feel rushed because I booked a lot of stuff right away - the hall and band were booked within the first month we were engaged, the florist and photographer 1-2 months after that. I ordered my dress in mid-November and they told me it should take about 4 months to come in. Good luck!

A little.... with only a few vendors...we had a 7 month engagement

The gown & the hair/makeup were the worst. I lucked out with the hall & FIL drives for a limo co, so we knew we had a 'safety net' for that.

The time of year also helped a lot

My engagement will be about 9 months and I am planning from Chicago. So it can definitely be done. The key is organization and planning ahead. Of course I couldn't forget this site and the wonderful ladies here.

Don't feel defeated -- this might make you feel a teeny bit better -- my cousin got engaged in January 2004 and her wedding is next month! I have no idea how she did it (though it will be a small wedding) but it's possible!

Besides, I am in a similar position as you. My original date was for April 2005. In mid-October I changed my date and suddenly went from having a year and a half to plan my wedding -- to 11 months to plan! But because I had been engaged for several months already I had alot of my ideas ready to go. So that's what you need to do -- get organized and prioritize. Look, we are getting married on the same day and I don't have much more than you done. I still don't have a florist, limos, BM gowns, etc etc. But I'm not feeling rushed at all. 7 1/2 months is still alot of time! Let me know if you need help or ideas with anything -- I'll be happy to help!

Re: Short engagement!

It looks like our wedding will be 9/10 and we'll only be engaged for 10 months, so I am just starting to get things going now.
I didn't call a photographer yet, but I am a bit worried about the availability. No luck on a dress yet, I am meeting with a caterer next week, but other than that, I am in the same boat. Let's wish ourselves luck!

Our engagement will only be 7 months...down 5, 2 to go...I feel it has been a breeze. I have had no issues with any vendors or finding things I want. Once I got the hall booked...it was downhill and easy planning from there.

I think your engagement is normal.. I call now, with a year to go until the wedding, and people act like its 10 years away.. geez.. you can't win

Re: Short engagement!

it can all be done in a shorter amount of time.. but some places book up quicker, and also september and october are more popular... so that might add to it... i think 11 months is plenty of time, i would have gotten married quicker but i wanted to wait until i was done with college

One of my BM's is getting married on the same day you are, and I think her engagement is also 11 months. She's had pretty good luck with vendors, except for the photgraphers. Everyone she liked was either booked or outrageously priced. The good news is the that the other vendors were fairly easy. Get you music, flowers, and photographer as soon as possilbe.

Re: Short engagement!

I just got engaged and am looking to get 'hitched' this summer, its a decent amount of people 125, so far alot of places still have availability, I thought they would have given last minute discounts though so far notone would offer that- any ideas???
I am sure I can pull off the planning, im more worried about getting a dress though!
