Ok. a couple of weeks ago, we went to a wedding at Chateu La Mer, and the bartender said he was 'not allowed to give us shots' but we were able to get around it by asking for a cordial or a vodka on the rocks..or the bridal party was allowed to request them.
So, when we went to our hall today, I inquired about this and they said it is a new suffolk law?? The bartenders are not allowed to give 'shots' if asked..
Has anyone else heard of this??? I understand there are ways go go around it but, its not like we are in our early 20's and everyone is binge drinking. Im a little upset! Have to admit

Re: Shots!!!
Smack dab on the back of our contract it says........'There is a 'No Shot' policy for this event.'
I personally like the idea only cause I know how our friends get after shots. But yes, if you ask for a cordial of Jagermeister, you get a shot amount in a cordial glass.

Re: Shots!!!
Well, FH doesnt drink, and I can't even handle more than one shot, but I know our friends always have a social lemon drop. I can't believe I didnt see that, apparently it is on our contract too..we found this out today I still havent looked, not like I can do anything about it now..

Re: Shots!!!
they still will give shots many times
i had my e-party at CLM, and since they didnt have shot glasses they just put a shot into a smaller glass and people did shots from that.

Re: Shots!!!
i have heard of that, however, like you said, you get around it by asking for whatever shot you want 'on the rocks'... my friends even go as far as to request something 'on the rocks...without the rocks' lol, the scary thing is, they always get what they want!!! lol

Wow I never heard of that. But my hall was in nassau county so I wouldn't know anyway. Sorry to hear that happens. We brides have enough stress!

Re: Shots!!!
I think pretty much every place has a no shot policy these days....I honestly preferred it that way b/c I didn't want DH's friends to get out of control (especially our groomsmen!)

Re: Shots!!!
I was 100% supportive of the no-shot policy at our reception hall. There is a time and a place and I dont want sloppy drunks at my wedding! We also gave specific instructions of NO BOTTLED BEER. All beer must be poured into a glass.
