Should bridesmaids pay for rush delivery?

Should bridesmaids pay for rush delivery?

My sister is a bridesmaid in a wedding in late August. The bride was VERY late in picking the bridesmaid dresses and now the store is telling her she must order them rush delivery, which will add onto the cost (not sure by how much). This also means that anyone who needs alterations, will have to pay extra for rush alterations as well.

She is not sure if the bride is going to pay the rush delivery and alteration costs, but what would you do as a bride and also as a bridesmaid?

I told her to wait and see... maybe the bride is paying the cost. My sister doubts that she will. She's known the bride for 15+ years.

I understand the duties involved in being a bridesmaid and it's not worth ruining a friendship to nitpick over these types of details... but just wanted some opinions!

If I were the bride I would have paid for the rush fee because I would feel bad that it was my fault they were getting charged the fee. If it is the BM fault the order is late then I would think its their charge. But thats just me.

if you were a bridesmaid, and the bride didn't pay the rush fees, would you say something? And let's say the rush fees for delivery and alterations were around $75-$100.

However if the bride does not pay for it then its obviously not something to mention, or at least I wouldn't. On the other hand if I was the Bridesmaid and the bride was my friend for many years I would not even think that she should cover the cost. I would just pay it; of course this is assuming that the rush fee is reasonable like $50 (which should be the case as I had my gown rushed 1 month before the wedding for that cost). And if it were more I would be a little bothered but not something to have our relationship ruined.

each? or both rush and alt is between 75-100? If both is 75-100 then the price is fine. Most places charge you $75 for alterations. I would ask her and assist her in finding another location asap to compare quotes (meaning within a 2 day period max). Also I can suggest that she find someone who does alterations for check. My girls all paid $30 to my friends mother in law. She cut the lengths of the dresses, and brought the dresses in. e.x. size 8 to a size 0.

If i were the bride i'd pay for the rush order since it was my fault that the dresses have to be rushed.

If i were the bridesmaid i'd say something to the bride. Just asking if she were going to pay for it but in the nicest way possible so it would be hard for her to say no.

If it were my fault that they needed to be rushed, I'd definitely pay!!! And if it were the store's fault, I'd raise hell. But if the BM simply forgot, she'd better pony up

if i were the bride i'd definitely pay the rush fee if it were my fault. i would feel bad making my bm pay extra for something that was faulted on my end.

If that was me I would pay the rush fee! I would feel horrible that my BMs had to pay for my procrastination. If I was a BM and had to pay an additional $75-100 on top of the dress and the dress' alterations I would be p!ssed

The rush fee is usually around $35 and I really think the bride should cover any rushs fee if they are b/c she waited to order the dresses. I mean seriously being a BM is costly to begin with and it is not right to expect your friends to lay out extra $$$.

I've paid the rush fees twice as a bridesmaid. Luckily the seamstress that I use always works quickly so I didn't have to pay extra to get the alterations done on time.

I didn't say anything to either bride because I knew they were under enough stress so I just let it go.

The bride should pay for the rush fees, but she is not obligated to pay for alterations.

As far as alterations, most wont charge you extra to get it done quickly. Ive had a seamstress do work for me in 2 days and my cousins got their bm dresses altered a week before the wedding. So alterations they would have to pay for no matter what so that i dont think is the brides responsibility. IF there is an extra charge to do alterations faster then just pay the difference but no way the whole thing and honestly i doubt they will have to pay extra for alterations.
