My dad got all impatient and wouldn't wait until after we got the GM tuxes, and went out and rented his own. The tux itself is find, but the vest/tie colors are completely different (GM will be in purple vests and solid purple ties, my dad's vest is gray with a black and gray striped tie) and the collars are different (GMs will have flat collars, my dad's is wing tip collar).
I'm kind of annoyed and stressed by this, but I don't know if I'm getting upset for nothing. What do you girls think?

It'll be fine. Our GM's and our father's were all in black vest in tie, but they were different tuxes. FIL wore a tux he had, and my father bought a tux. The rest of the guys all rented.

Technically they SHOULD all match because it should only be black and white, but even at that the styles of the tuxedo does not have to match, even among the groomsmen.

it doesn't matter! they probably won't be in any pictures together anyway! no one will notice a detail that small, trust me!
our dads wore the same tuxes but not the same ties

I don't think it's a problem at all.. I see no reason that your father can't stand out!

Ours matched (just different vest/tie), but I think it'd be fine if they don't.

i didnt even know that dads were suppose to match. I had my dad match my moms dress and since DH parents are divorced i had his dad were gray.

Our GM and dad's are kinda the same and kinda different. The GM's are wearing a faded pinstrip Calvin Klien tux with certain black vest and tie, and a white shirt. The dad's are wearing the plain black Calvin Klien tux with the same best and tie that the GM are wearing.
We didn't want our dad's to look like they were GMs, we just wanted them to stick out a little bit though. As long as your dad's vest and tie won't clash with your BM's dresses if you have any pictures of your BP and your dad I don't see much of a problem with it.

No, I don't think that the dads should match the GMs. We had our dads match each other though.(they wore black and white.)

Told my dad he could do whatever he wants to do..he didnt need to match the guys..but I trust my dad cause he has nice taste in clothes.

our gm's wore a black vest with purple tie. FFIL wore black on black. I did not want him to have the same as the bridal party

My dad and FFIL will have vests/tie to match my mom and FMIL. I don't think they have to match,
