register for a food processor? Is it something I'll ever use?
Also, do you register for everyday dinnerware, casual china & fine china? I'm registered for the everyday stuff & fine china, is the casual china necessary?

Re: Should I.......
i find a mini food processor is even more handy. so if you don't feel like you're going to use the industrial sized one, then at least register for a small one for every day use. i only registered for everyday china and fine china. i guess it's up to you to decide what you want to register for.

A food processor is handy. I can't wait to get mine b/c FH is tired of chopping onions and peppers when we make spaghetti sauce!
I'm not sure what the difference is between 'everyday' and 'casual' china. Isn't your everyday your casual?
I registered for everyday dishes and fine china. I also registered for everyday flatware and sterling silver... but the good stuff is stuff I know we will use on holidays and special occasions.
Register for what you want!

Re: Should I.......
3 kinds of china?
My mom bought my fine china at the Mikasa outlet, we saved a fortune and I don't stress out as much if say a plate were to break. I registered for everyday dishes as well. I got 8 settings of every day and 14 of fine.
ETA: I got a cheapy small food processor and I am glad because I have only used it like 3 times.

Re: Should I.......
As far as China you can register for what you want. We arent even registering for any china, just the cheap everyday plates and stuff.

Re: Should I.......
i'd definitely register for the food processor!
it's a great addition to your kitchen!
like a previous poster mentioned, it's great for chopping onions for tomato sauce..
it's also really great for making guacamole! throw in 3 haas avocados, juice from 1 lime (tip: roll it hard with your hand before squeezing it and it will be much easier to juice!), 2 plum tomatoes, 1/2 cup of onion, 3 tbsp of cilantro, 1 tsp garlic, a pinch of cayenne pepper.. and salt (to taste).... and voila

Re: Should I.......
But try to get one that doesn't have a lot of parts to it. FMIL has one that has a million parts. This clicks into that.... blah blah blah. And when it comes to cleaning it you just want to throw it on the floor sometimes.

Re: Should I.......
The food processor isn't necessarily a must. I'd say if you're already questioning it, then maybe reconsider registering for it. Why have one of your guests waste their money on something you're not even sure you're going to use. I say stick to registering for things you're sure you'll use.
As for the china, we registered for what I guess would be considered 'casual china' as our everyday dishes and then 'fine china' for our formal place setting. I don't think you need all three though. To be honest, I have a hard enough time using the two sets I have. I use the everyday dishes for everyday and the fine china for holidays. I'm not sure what I would use 'casual china' for.

re: the plates
I registered for Fine China and a very casual boxed set. doe everyday... I got ALL my china and my casual set--(2 boxes--service for 12)
From all my friends and families experience those who usually registered for expensive casual china and fine china got VERY few pieces (if any) of their fine china and only part of their casual....You have to figure on how many people are invited and what they are going to spend...I tried to make mine realistic for my family and it worked in my favor!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Should I.......
We didnt do fine china because we have no room for it and by the time we buya house, we will probably love another pattern heh. We also didnt wnat to buy half now and then in 5 years when we have room for more, realzie the pattern was discontinued.
We put FIESTAWARE on our registry for everyday because it comes in tons of colors, the company is older than dirt (so nothign gets discontinued) and its sooooo easy to replace a dish if one breaks! Just go out and get another one. No crazy hassle with locating the right year/model and country of origin of the right set. It also comes in beautiful bright colors. Makes me happier just eating off an orange plate.
We DID get a food processor-its a dual one from kitchenaid or cuisnart-forget which. It has the food processor attachment and the blender. Its very handy.

Re: Should I.......
food processors are GREAT. If you cook a lot, get a good kitchenaid or cuisenart 9-11 cup. If you don't cook that much, get a mini (4-6 cup).
It makes fast work of grating, chopping and slicing.... golden....

Re: Should I.......
They also have a food processor and blender in ONE. The combination is great because it takes up less space than 2 appliances and you save money!
