Should I add a half hour to my reception?

Should I add a half hour to my reception?

FI and I decided on an 1 1/2 Cocktail Hour, but my hall deducts the half hour from the reception, making it 3 1/2 hours instead of four. Would that half hour less really make a difference? Now I'm trying to think of all the things they do during the reception, cake cutting, etc. and I'm not sure if I should inquire with my hall about adding it to the end. I would mostly be charged extra for both the hall and the DJ.

Any thoughts? Or should I just wait and see?

Our reception is 5 hours. I think that 3.5 hours will fly by so fast! You probably want to increase it to at least 4 hours.

Me too - we're thinking of doing the same - an hour and a half CH, and a 4.5 ceremoy. The day is going to fly, so I'm stretching this sucker out as long as possible!

If the price is reasonable, it sounds like a good idea

I agree...CH has great food but the reception is where people do most of their mingling and all of their dancing.

I agree with the other girls, you should increase the reception. 3 1/2 hours just seems way too short and everything will be rushed!

I have to ask in regards to the pricing. If not, we may just stick with the hour CH.

I guess we can always up it into overtime but that's anothe excuse for them to charge me a bazillion dollars! I'd rather get the quote in writing and up front. LOL

I would extend the reception the half hour although I think the extra time at the cocktail hour is a great idea.
