I want to add a half hr (maybe hr) to the day...It's $600 for a half hr( is that reasonable?) and Should I add it to the reception or the cocktail hr???
The cocktail hr is 8:00-9:00 (p.m)and reception is 9:00-1:00?

Re: Should I add time to Reception or CH?
IMO- It ending at 1am is already enough. A good piece of advice my DJ gave me was you want to go out with a bang.. not half the guests gone and everyone tired. He said once we are there we can always decided to stay and pay for the extra hour if the party is still really going and you arent ready to leave. Why pay for it now? Wait until that night and around 12:30 see how many people are still there and if no one wants to get off the dance floor then go for it.

I personally don't think you should add time, but if you really want it, I'd add it to the CH.

I am just like you! I want to add more time bc dont want the night to end, but ours already ends at 12:30 and my FH does not want to do it.
My advice is see how it goes the night of...we planned an after-party at the bar in the Fox Hollow and they are letting us keep that open for another couple of hours. That might be your best bet.

That's actually a pretty good idea. It would probably be a lot cheaper. See if that's an option with them

I know i know...i am going to miss ALL of my CH, mostly because i want to make a grand entrance and don't want anyone to see me before
But i think that adding 1/2 for 600 is tooo much!

hmm thats tough. I would definitly add the extra time, it just helps so much when the day is flying by. I would probably add it to CH b/c at the end of the reception a lot of people are tired and ready to go.

I fyou really want to add the time, I would suggest starting the CH a half hour earlier. You don't want to the CH to last a half hour later because then dinner will be served VERY late. I don't think adding it to the reception would be great because it's already running much later than most weddings.

Re: Should I add time to Reception or CH?
If I could do anything about my wedding differently, I would have added an hour to the reception. It all goes sooo fast I would have LOVED to have had an hour more to hang out and dance and talk to people. But if I were you I would find out if you can decide the day of the event. 1am is late already so it would stink if you paid all that money to have less than half your guests still there.

Re: Should I add time to Reception or CH?
We're adding extra time also, but we are starting much earlier. Our invite says 3.30 with the ceremony starting around 4pm. We're planning a receiving line so Cocktail hour will be at 5pm - 6pm. And then this way, the reception will end at 10pm. After that, we're headed to the lounge at the Couryard Marriott with anyone who wants to join us.
If I were you, I'd tack the time on earlier at the cocktail hour and start your whole affair earlier. 1pm is late to extend past that. JMO!

Re: Should I add time to Reception or CH?
We're having 1 1/2 cocktail hour so that even if pictures take longer than we think, I still have time to mingle with my guests -which is something that I really want to be able to do. 6-7:30 and 7:30-11:30.

I think if you want to add the extra time, you should make the cocktail hour 1/2 earlier, but still only have it an hour long, then the reception will still end at 1am.
