I live in babylon, most of my guests are from babylon and wantagh and huntington area,

(its 45 minute ride from babylon w/ no traffic)

I don't think it's a problem. I would just be concerned about the ride back and those guests who might be drinking. But you should know your guests better then me lol

People drive out to the Hamptons in that traffic for a bunch of dumb reasons. Your wedding is impt, they can shut up and make it. Also, you have enough to worry about besides other peoples travel arrangements. It's a day, not a lifetime of traveling. The little comments ur getting, try and think of them as none of ur business. Ppl sometimes think you wanna hear EVERYTHING thats on their mind. I say, no thanks! Im sure you're day will be perfect!

i think an hour is fine. anything beyond like hour and a half and it gets murky LOL! but we have ppl driving out from staten island and what can you do? we have relatives from east, west, diff states, etc. we just chose a location that was decent for the majority!

Do not worry about this at all!!! I think every wedding I have been to the reception was 45 min. or more away. My reception will be 45-50 min. away from the church also.

I live in Selden (most of my family is from Suffolk too) and my RH is in Franklin Square. I agree with the other ladies- it's your wedding day! My whole family traveled to Connecticut for my sister's wedding so I think an hour drive is more than fine!

If they love you they will be there no matter what. Most of my guests live in the bronx and don't have a car yet I am getting married on LI. One of my friends said they will rent a car if they have to.

are you kidding?! an hour is not bad at all, plus it's a saturday night! they have the entire next day to rest up and recover. i don't think the drive will deter anyone who loves you from sharing your special day with you, and i don't think you should worry that you're being unreasonable at all.

If they don't want to drive home after, they will book a room on their own. That's not up to you!

i think an hour drive is normal for long island! and if they are staying at a hotel who gives an eff how long the drive is??

people need to shutty up sometimes because I for one am sick of all the opinions about everything!!

edit: to say that your wedding is after the season anyway so its NOT like there will be traffic...

It's your wedding. Do what you want to do. People are going to comment no matter where you have it. You can simply tell them 'there are hotels in the area if you would like but I cannot block anything out'. I'm a b*tch and I would just tell them 'so you're not coming because it's too far?' and when they said 'I didn't say that' my response would be 'then why is this conversation happening?'

Like I said, do what you want. People travel all over to go to weddings. You shouldn't have YOUR WEDDING at a place just because it's closer for everyone. You'll always get complaints so don't worry about what other people say. Try to ignore them.

no i mean people travel to weddings all the time and if they feel its too much they can stay home...its rude to make comments like that

There are many places to stay in Riverhead.
Hotel Indigo East End
Hilton Garden Inn
Holiday Inn Express
These places are right off the L.I.E. & very close tp the Hamptons

I live on the East End and I am fairly certain that you can find a hotel that will work with you. My girlfriend is also getting married on 10-8-11 and she was able to get a great rate at a hotel on Dune Road in Westhamtpon Beach....
