should I be concerned (change of flight - HM)

We were scheduled to leave next friday 5/9 at 6:50pm from JFK on Tahiti Nui - stopping in LA for gas & more passengers - and then flying to Tahiti on the same plane - arriving in Taihiti 5:00am Saturday

I get an email (10 min ago) from my TA that they cancelled the JFK - LAX flight - so they want to put us on a Delta flight from JFK on Fri - at 5:50pm arriving in LAX - waiting 2 hrs and then getting on a Tahiti Nui flight which brings us to Tahiti at 5:00 am as well

I'm fine with this with one exception:
If our Delta flight is delayed in NYC and we dont make it in time for the Tahiti Flight in LAX then we're screwed & we miss one day out of our HM.

Am I being dramatic?
This happened to my parents last year when I booked their Europe Vacataion - They had a connecting flight to Paris (in Washington DC) there was a delay in JFK and they missed the Paris flight out of DC - so they couldnt get on anotehr flight until 24 hrs later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i can see your concern, but you do have a 2 hour layover which should hopefully be plenty of time

are there other options?

well you have more of a layover so should be fine. And in case you do miss that flight they can also put you on another flight if there is another one leaving that day

ahh i dont know what you should do - i would also be nervous of getting a delayed flight and missing the connection

can you get on an even earlier flight with a longer connection just to be safe?

You will be fine. Its a 2 hour layover...if it was like 45 minutes or something then I would be worried. 2 hours is the average layover time. If something happens then you can always get put on the next flight or like another poster said, check to see if you can get an earlier flight from NY so you'll have a little longer layover time.

ya thats frustrating. But just hope it all goes well!! We were delayed out of jfk for our HM and missed our flight by 2 minutes- we saw it pulling out as we pulled in. We were put on a flight 2.5 hours later. It was just annoying! But it ended up being okay and not mattering too much.

Hi Gab
I just by chance caught this thread.
I would not worry about it - I took the Delta Flight from NY to LAX we were on time

I stayed over in CA b/c I did not like the idea of flying more that day and or arriving in the FP @ 5AM

My concern would be .. I hope this is all worked out where are you going to check in when you arrive? The hotels/Resorts don't check you in till like 9 am if your lucky and sometimes 12 noon?

You are staying overnight right in Papeete?
or are you waiting for the next flight in Papeete till 9am? It is only 1/2 hr to 45 minutes max to Moorea or BB.

I don't know what is happening. Our flight just got cancelled for our HM in September. I think they may wait if the plane is delayed. I wouldn't stress too much over it, you really can't do anything about it, right?

You totally totally did the right thing! We stayed in CA 1 day and caught up w/time. I am soo GLAD your not staying over in Papette - I know I told you about how yucky it is there
