Should I be hurt?

Should I be hurt?

My shower was last weekend and one of my FI's 4 sisters was able to attend which I was very excited about. The other three sisters could not come and did not send a gift. My family and friends think that is rude and I kind of feel a little hurt about it. Any one else go through something like this? Also, 2 did not even rsvp to say they were not coming.

What upsets me more if the fact that they didn't even RSVP, now thats rude!

Gifts are optional although family members usually give

I'd be hurt. But you know what? Don't let it get to you. You have other people in your life that care about you and that's what's important, right? They are missing out on a great SIL, and that's their loss!

i've not been in the situation... but if they are going to be family - i would be terribly hurt!

I would be offended too. It was inconsiderate to the hosts of your shower to not even RSVP

I'd be mad!!! This happened to my girlfriend. NONE of his side came to her shower. I just can't believe how people to put family first!!

An RSVP would have been nice. A gift would have been nice too.

I would be hurt too - but don't let it get you down. It takes time for families to warm up to each other. I bet you had a beautiful shower though!!

My answer to the question 'Should I be hurt?' is nearly always no. Sure sometimes feeling hurt is inevitable, but its not something I would ever encourage. Being hurt is not constructive in the least. You are much better off just accepting it as an indicator of your relationship with them, and moving on. Whats the point of dwelling? Are you sad you aren't closer with them? Well then do something about it. Do you have a friendship with them?
