I went to Tri-County yesterday to scope out wedding bands, sell back some old jewelry, and get a new blackberry case. When I walked in I walked past Barron's and figured I'd take a look at some of the bridal headpieces. I talked to the woman for a minute and asked if I could try on one of the headpieces. She asked me when my wedding was and when I said it was next November, she refused to let me try a headpiece on. I was dumbfounded and really upset. I mean, I get that she didn't want me to waste her time b/c clearly I wasn't going to buy something that day, but I just really wanted to get ideas.
Should I be offended? It was not a good feeling at all. I get reactions like this all the time b/c I look a lot younger than I am, but I'm 25 and really, once they know I'm actually getting married, they should want to help me out, no?
UGH vent over.

I have a rule of not giving business to people that aggrevate me..yes you can have a bad day but to outright refuse to let someone try a product..that is unexcuable in my book
JMO I have seen the same veils @ my bridal store for the same price..not cheaper

Re: Should I be offended?
That's obnoxious. How does she know you're not going to buy? a lot of girls with late 2011 wedding have all their crap together already. Oh well, lady, you lost a sale.
If it's a passing vendor, I've started lying about my date, lol. I just say September if I know it's something I just want to look at and not something that involves a contract. Stupid, I know, but I'm sick of that reaction from people. MYOB!

Re: Should I be offended?
That stinks, and that was rude of her. I had a florist in my neighborhood that I wanted to use, they wouldn't even make an appointment for me to come in because they didn't want to give me 2010 prices! I will definitely not be using them.

People are a**holes to say the least. I think you have every right to be upset- I'd be too. But don't let it get to you too much, take it as a lesson learned, don't go to her for a headpiece and tell anyone who asks about headpieces not to go to her.

That was rude. I would be upset too. Since when does your wedding date dictate when you can start looking at stuff. They don't do that when you walk in to try on gowns!

I agree with you 100%...that's horrible of her to do that. I wouldn't waste your time or money by going back to them...

Thats ridiculous. I would be like well soon my wedding will be coming up and I am going to remember how rude you were and not buy anything from you.

Re: Should I be offended?
I would have done exactly as you done, tell other people and not give them my business.
That is snobby and ridiculous. There is no telling if you would've fallen in love with something and kept her and the business in mind even if you weren't going to buy that minute.
RUDE!

Re: Should I be offended?
That's just bad business practice - even if you weren't going to buy today that doesn't mean that you wouldn't have considered it down the road; and now all she's done is screw herself out of a potential sale.

Re: Should I be offended?
Honestly if I were you I would get a receipt from someone on here who has already bought their veil from someone else. Then go show it to the lady at Barrons (in front of her manager, or a lot of other customers) and tell her she lost out on an expensive sale, and that you think they are rude. But that's just me, I like making a scene when treated poorly.

Re: Should I be offended?
ITA, i would totally be bothered by that too. after working in retail and customer oriented positions, i know how the customers are supposed to feel, so i hate it when the sales person is mean to me for no reason.
they def. don't deserve your business. i've made a point of sticking to that, and i also make it a point to take down that persons name and write a complaint straight to corporate. if you as a sale person really hate your job that much, then get a new one, don't take it out on me, who's a customer!
