I figured this would be a silly way for me to vent...I've been working like CRAZY for the past month and probably have seen my FH for a combinded total of 24 hours. So tonight I planned to go to a mutal friends house for dinner...she just went through a nasty breakup and can use the support, plus she has Chili and its a free meal.
Now FH tells me that he has his fantasy football draft at 8 and prob wont be able to go....THIS IS HIS 4TH DRAFT! Why do you feel the need to be on 4 teams?! He was at work last week until 11pm doing another draft and i'm just getting sick of being second for something as stupid as a game. I might make him second but its cause of work and i cant control my hours.
I'm not saying don't have fun and not do any teams/drafts....but 4....COME ON!?

Re: Should I be pissed at my FH
So far DH has had two ( as far as I know) and I dont know if there are more to come. I wouldnt consider yourself second to football or sports or games. Its a once a year thing the drafts. Go out with your friend and have a good time. You have the rest of your lives together!
I understand where you're coming from though. We have to plan things around football . But I know its something important to DH, so I just scuk it up. He has his hobbies and I have mine. I wouldnt like it if I had scheduled a run (my hobby) and he got angry at me for it.

I'd prob be super annoyed, but you know how important this stuff is to men. I'd let him off the hook.

Re: Should I be pissed at my FH
I have to agree with Colleen. It's not that you're second to it, but it IS something that's also important to him, and it's NOT a year round thing. I'm what they call a 'Football Widow.' I lose DH every year during football season. Sundays, Monday nights, and even some Saturdays are nothing but football. And that also includes Fantasy Football. I've learned to work with it. Either I schedule girl's days/nights during those times, or I use it to get chores and things done around the house. I used to use that time to study when I was still in grad school. Or worse comes to worse, we'll invite a bunch of people over and everyone will just hang out and watch the game together.
I don't know, maybe after 10+ years I'm used to it, but I don't think it's something to make yourself crazy over. Besides, you made plans at a friend's house - not plans for the two of you together. Do you really think he wants to be there listening to this girl vent about her breakup and miss his draft for it??????

I'd maybe give him a pass with this one. As long as it doesn't get too out of control...

I agree with this.
My FH is a musician and he can spend literally 18 hours per day in the studio. Too bad music doesn't have a season!!!!!

Re: Should I be pissed at my FH
I'm marrying the biggest sports fanatic ever- he plays basketball, flag football, baseball. He watches games, is head of the fantasy football and all of that. So i know where you are coming from! Hang in there!!!
If its not baseball season its football season- I just cant get away from it
Its like that movie with Drew Barrymoore... about the boston red sox...

Re: Should I be pissed at my FH
I play on a few fantasy teams and know it can get addicting and you can't really drop out of a league you've played in for years....it stinks but I would just let it go.

be glad your FH is not a hunter. I lose him from October till Mid December every year. I don't mind though, he loves it and it makes him happy. He lets me do my thing, I let him do his.

Re: Should I be pissed at my FH
When we purchased our beautiful 46' TV, I knew watching football would be a big thing in our home. Of DH's friends we are the only ones with an apartment & the only ones with a nice TV. So it was either be pissed off at DH from August to the begining of February for the rest of our lives or learn whats going on. So I started watching the games & now I love it. We host all the NFL games & some college games (depending which team is playing). DH makes dinner for us & our friends every Sunday & I make dessert.
I know you said she is a mutual friend but if she is dealing with a breakup making she would prefer to have some girl time. I would be more annoyed if you had reservation for just you & DH at a restaurant & he canceled on you.

Re: Should I be pissed at my FH
4 Fantasy anything teams does seem a bit excessive so I can see why you would be annoyed but just take the time to enjoy with your friend. But absolutely explain to FH why you are upset and make him schedule a time over the weekend or the next time you both are off to do something together just the two of you.

Re: Should I be pissed at my FH
I would give him a pass only because it's a small thing to be mad over if he is kind and attentive otherwise.
Think about it this way, he will love you even more for being such a cool fiance for letting him do something he really enjoys and that doesn't go on all year.
I would be pis sed if he was foregoing spending time with me to go clubbing or even constant poker games but fantasy football is kinda dorky and a innocent 'guy thing' that I think we just need to let slide.

Re: Should I be pissed at my FH
Sorry but I am so glad FH isn't into sports, my ex was and it was beyond ridiculous. It wasn't just the drafts, he would follow it online when they were playing to see himself get points.
It got to the point where we'd go out to eat and he would have to sit facing the TV and we wouldn't even talk.
Like I said, he's my ex!
I can't stand sports fanatical guys. But hey you're going to have to suck it up coz it's a part of him and you said yes lol

okay, yes, THIS is ridiculous and I couldn't cope either. FH isn't into sports but he adores UFC but luckily it's only one saturday a month
The bottom line is, you probably can't help feel pissed even if the polls say you shouldn't be so you should still talk to him and say you miss him Maybe he will compromise and only do a couple?

Re: Should I be pissed at my FH
i am with you girl! FH is on 3 teams and just did his final draft last night too. It is sooo frustrating but it is something he enjoys. I would be pissed that he didnt tell you sooner and if they picked the draft last min then he shoulda tried for a diff night (like tonight). FH and I learned to make plans AROUND his drafts as annoying as it is it saves us from many fights lol.

Re: Should I be pissed at my FH
I wouldn't be mad... i understand and I personally would want to be mad too but I always try to keep in mind... look at the bigger picture. My FH is always on the computer doing his drafts, so I feel like he's always on the computer or talking sports but I feel it's his time/outlet to himself just like we all have ours.
