FSIL was in a highschool play this weekend, FH and I went. FSIL is one of my BM's, although we have never really ever spoken, had a conversation, hung out or anything. (FMIL guilted us into having all of his siblings in the BP, even whens hes not close with any of them )
Anyway, at the play, she was introducing her family to one of her friends and goes around 'this is my dad, my brother, etc' and when she gets to me she pauses, goes 'thats uh-uh-uh...my brothers....uh, Kristen, thats right' To me, it sounded like she forgot my name.
FH thinks I'm making a big deal about nothing, but I think that someone who is my BM should know my name. Am I making a big deal over nothing?

Maybe she was flustered from the anxiety about the play?

Try having your sister's 25 year old date mispronounce your name at your wedding, even though you have known him for years...

Re: Should I be Upset?
i wouldn't be upset, she is a 16yr old girl who probably could care less....sorry that may sound a little harsh, but at 16 she's probably more concerned about boys and what not.

I'd be annoyed. 16 is young...but old enough to remember a name!

Re: Should I be Upset?
it's sad that she had to think about your name but like you said you don't talk to her. so i wouldn't stress over it! maybe try having a convo with her since she'll be in your wedding party!

It sounds like she may have blanked on the word fiancee.

That's what I was going to say... I think she wanted to preempt your name with her relation to you and she couldn't come up with it, cause just for her to say Kristen wans't going to tell anyone who you were to her.
I would probably give her the benefit of the doubt. I know it must've stung a little, I agree, but I don't think it's worth getting super worked up over.

Re: Should I be Upset?
I think she didn't know whether or not to call you girlfriend/fiancee/whatnot or she just didn't know the word fiancee.
Either way, she's 16, her mind is probably elsewhere.

Re: Should I be Upset?
I can totally see why you would be upset and I would be too! I am very sensitive and if it were me i'd probably make a big deal beacuse I can be a little dramatic!! In reality im sure she was flustered and it wasnt an intentional thing... she probably couldnt figure out what to call you so she just resorted to your name.

Re: Should I be Upset?
It seems like she couldn't get the word fiance out and then just ended up saying your name.

ITA...I've had everything from wife to friend to simply 'this is Jennifer.' I wouldn't take it too personal, she's just 16. You probably need to spend some QT with her if she's a BM...
