some may say I am nervous for no reason, i still am... I ordered my gown in february they told me when i ordered it would be in Nov. 1st. That was great since i live out of state and I am not on LI all the time. I called late october and the woman told me the computer says March 1st. After telling her it was unacceptable... I know that leaves enough time for fittings, but i have never seen the dress in my color, i want to have the dress for when i get the veil and headpiece and for my hair trial and I dont live in the state- she had the owner call me and she said not to worry, it will be in in december, maybe even by thanksgiving...wel thanksgiving came and went but i didnt call...i figured i would wait... then dec hits, still nothing, christmas came and went now , so i called today- the woman tells me, It is in the computer for march 1st... so now i am really upset... i had my mom call- she is better with these things when i am being irrational...and says she wants to speak to the owner.. well the owner is not in...
do you think i am upset and making it a big deal for no reason??? I know 4 months is a long time, but i explained all of these variables to the owner when i bought with her and all she kept telling me is not to worry it will be fine.
part of me wants to cancel and my mom said that if the date remains at march 1st and they can not give us an actual date we will cancel and go elsewhere... but that makes me stressed out too

No, I agree that they're being unprofessional. Stay on them.

I don't know how nervous you should be, but I can tell you what I was told.
My dress is coming from China (big surprise). Everything shuts down in China for the month of February for the Chinese New Year. Everything here (the designers) shut down from @ Dec 15-Jan 1. I ordered my dress August 26. The expected due date is March 29. This was the date I got a few weeks ago. When I ordered it, they said 6 months is the time for my designer - which would make the arrival date February.

You have a right to be upset. However, reading your story it seems that they always planned on having the dress come in 3/1/06. They probably always planned on having it come in on that date and told you differently so that you would 'calm down'. The good news, you'll have your dress in time to spare for your wedding. The bad news, they totally lied to you.

I would stay on them and demand they change it in the system and send some kind of confirmation that it was changed. They are lying to you so I would not take anything they say to heart unless it is documented. IMO what they are doing is totally wrong as you have discussed your needs with them a few times it seems. I would be seriously pissed.

i would definitely be upset too...however, in the meantime until the dress comes in, perhaps you can just get a swatch of the dress and start taking care of your veil and headpiece?

Re: should I be upset? dress- long
Uhh, it helps to know I am not completely a bridezilla- the thing is that if they would havr told me the date they had in mind from day one, then it could have been my decision from there on as to what i wanted to do, but they said nov 1st...now come on i ordered in february- it doesnt take a year and a month to come in...which means they ordered it whenever they felt like it , knowing all the things i told them and why i was nervous. I would love to say that I loveeeeeeeee my dress, but I dont even remember all the details of it and I never saw it in the diamond white that i ordered it in. I am frustrated and annoyed that I am being lied to, just give me a date and stick with it...i guess March is not so bad, however you know when you have a plan in your head as to what you need and want to do and then other people come and mess it all up... Thats probably why I am so aggravated.
so march will be fine for a july 1st wedding, right???

That really stinks. I would call the BBB and see if this salon had any problems in the past.I called the bbb on the vendors I chose so far, and they all had clean records. Something to think about in the future. Good luck.

I completely understand why you are upset, b/c they did lie to you!
But timewise, March 1st is FINE for a July wedding. I am getting married in less than 60 days and I haven't even tried on my dress yet. It is sitting at Macy's.

I understand you being upset because they lied. I would be upset too (I had a similar situation). But in all honesty, 4 months is pleanty of time before your wedding. I didn't start my fittings until 5 weeks before my wedding date.

Sounds good everyone...thanks for calming me down. They did call back and they said the manufacturer is not working this week but they will have an exact date for me next week and not to worry....the lady i spoke to was friendly, even though I must add I was a bit rough around the edges... So, we will see what happens next week... however you have conviced me that stressing is dumb since I will have enough time...

I'd be perturbed. Did you ever get any date on a receipt?
You still have plenty of time. I just went and took my dress in to be altered for my April 1 wedding. She told me I was way ahead.

Re: should I be upset? dress- long
I'm upset and going through the same thing right now. I , too, ordered my dress in February...they said it would take 8 months...that would be October. Well, after I wrote them an email checking in, they said it would be in in December. I was supposed to have my first fitting on December 26th, but got a call that the dress isn't in yet.
I am irate...how hard is it to get the dress into the store? That is the only thing these bridal shops need to do...get the damn dress in the shop! I don't think we are being irrational at all...for the amount of $ we are paying, I was hoping the customer service would have been better.
I am calling the store tomorrow and am going to rage - I suggest you do the same...sometimes being a ***** is the only way to get the job done.

it is a shop in PA - I'm sure it's not the same place. but, these places (no matter where they are) seem to operate the same way, I swear.
