I recently found out that my sister is having a fling with one of my dh's brothers. They are both of age to make their own decisions, but I think there may be hard feelings between families when and if things don't work out. I am really so unhappy with this. I mean when I was younger, if my boyfriend at the time had a brother, my sister dated him. When she dumped him later on, I was the one who had to hear about the nonsense. Any suggestions what to do? Has anyone ever been in this situation before? HELP!!!!

i dont' think there's really anything you can do about it...if they are both old enough to make the decision to date - you can really say anything to stop it.
just hope for the best.
maybe you can voice your concerns to her, but in a sisterly way so that she doesn't get defensive

When you say 'fling' what do you mean? Are they just fooling around and sleeping together? Are they dating? How old are they? Honestly, there's nothing you can really do about this. If it doesn't work out, then you need to tell people that they are adults and can make their own decisions and you and your DH had nothing to do with it, and would prefer to be left out of it.

I would mind your own business....I would resent any interference if I was in her situation--I can imagine your feelings but it isn't your decision, and any hard feelings between the two of them are their own doing, and no reflection on you in any way...

By fling-- I mean they are sleeping together with the occasional date here and there. She is 24 and he is 27

There's nothing you can do about that. It's their business and they are definitely grown-up enough to handle this. You may want to express your concerns to your sister, or you may have your DH talk to his brother, but if it's not serious, then I don't know that there's any fallout to be worried about.

hi there,
You didn't mention if your sister currently involved with someone, is that the reason why you would be upset about this? I actually have a funny situation as far as sisters dating friends of BF/FI/DH. My sister actually ended up marrying my DH's best friend, who is like his brother anyway, and everyone always tells us it was like two sisters marrying two brothers :) I cant really tell what your situation is from your post, but you don't sound happy about your own sis with this friend of your DH. All I can say, is stay out of it - your exact words were 'They are both of age to make their own decisions' so let them If it ends up like you said with hard feelings - it's not your problem, and if you have to hear about it from your sis, you can just remind her that it was her decision in the first place.
