We are honestly unsure how many OOT guests will be coming, but we assume quite a few. (Almost all of my FI's family / guests are from PA)
We are already blocking rooms a nice hotel for $139 per night.
We were quoted $199 per night for rooms at the GC Hotel. I was curious to know if you thought we should also block rooms there. (Normal room rates at the GC Hotel for our date now start at $295 per night)
I don't want to block rooms and have no one reserve them! I don't think too many people will want to spend this much on rooms, but I thought it was a good deal in case they wanted to stay at a really nice hotel for a deal.
Also, my FI and I were considering staying there on our wedding night (in a regular room, not a suite) and thought this was a great deal we could take advantage of... though I'd think they'd be really upset if the bride and groom wound up being the only ones who book!
Thoughts?!
I'm starting to think it's not worth it... but was curious to hear others' thoughts.

Ooops - for some reason the post came up blank... I edited it so it appears now.
Sorry for the confusion!

Re: should I block rooms at two hotels?
Hmmm... the more I think about it, the more I just think I'll block the $139 per night rooms and just put info on other hotels on the wedding web site. I figure the $295 per night will make the $139 sound like a deal. (FI's family comes from western PA and isn't quite used to NY prices!)
I was just thinking maybe some people would benefit from the deal... I guess I'll ask around and see what my family and my FI's family have to say about it!

Aaa, I think I would stick to the first one, I don't think people will care too much, if they see 139 and 199, they will go for the less. I see your point, but I don't think it is necessary.

The more I think about it, the more I agree with you... In case you couldn't tell from my rambling, stream-of-consciousness posts!

Re: should I block rooms at two hotels?
it sounds like you've already made up your mind.
stick with the first hotel. just ask if you can add more rooms to the block as they fill up.

Re: should I block rooms at two hotels?
I don't think it'll hurt to block rooms at 2 hotels. It's always good to have a backup just in case you run out of rooms at the first hotel. Plus, if they don't get booked the hotel will release them a month before the wedding anyway. Unless you're going to be charged for blocking the rooms, I say do it!

I would do what it seems you have decided. Block the one ($139 a night) and just give info for other hotels in the area in case they want to go somewhere else. . I also agree with the above and see if the hotel you block will let you add more on if they fill up - something I forgot to ask! Maybe I should call them up...

I wouldn't be charged for blocking the rooms. They'd just release them a month before the wedding date. That's why I considered doing that in the first place.
The other hotel will open up more rooms as we run out of blocked rooms. I'm honestly not sure it will come to that.
