So i spoke with my mom tonight and she thinks its unneccesary to offer a hotel to the guests b/c: 1) its a saturday day affair (11-5) 2) most of the guests live in the area 3) FI and i wont be at the same hotel 4) for any guests who have a long drive, the hotel is actually out of the way and like 25 mins form my reception site.
So i am thinking of not including it with the invite and keeping the rooms blocked incase someone calls after the invite. Any opinions? or any day weddings doing the same thing?

Re: should i bother offering hotel for OOT guests?
In your case... I'd put the inserts only in out of town (completely out of town, like they did not drive from their home that morning) guests.

Im having a day wedding, but a ton of OOT guests. We blocked rooms at 2 hotels and we are staying at one of them....we figured later in the evening we will meet up with people if we have the energy. Are you going to be penalized if you keep the rooms and they don't get booked?? Are there hotels closer that your guests could use if they need to?

i wont be penalized b/c i ddint have to give a down payment ( i only blocked 30 rooms though). Unfortunately all the hotels closest to the reception are booked already.

I think that you should keep the block and make your guests aware. JMO- it's a nice gesture

My opinion get the block. It doesn't cost anything for you to do that.

Bonnie - That's what I did. We only included the hotel inserts for guests we knew would need to book a hotel room.

I would include the info in the invites of any guest who doesn't live on LI or in NYC. This way, someone coming from New Jersey knows they have the option of staying on LI after the wedding and not driving, or going home if that is what they want to do.

I agree. As a guest it's nice to have the option and if it doesn't cost you anything, then why not...

I'm sorry to hijack!!! But sometimes I find it funny that people think NJ is such a trip from LI!!!! My sister lives in Manhassett and it only takes me 40 minutes to get to her, with traffic, more like an hour. My dad lives in Pt. Jefferson and it takes us an hour and 20 minutes to get there.
My father does that though... He'll say... Ugh...Jersey is just too far!!!
