I'm having ceremony and reception at Thatched Cottage. The way it stands now, my ceremony is 6-6:30, CH is 6:30-7:30, and reception is 7:30-11:30. FH and I are thinking of extending CH to an hour and a half instead of an hour. We figure it will give us a few minutes of 'down time' with each other in the bridal suite and we can still enjoy time with our guests and get some pictures in. I need to finalize my shuttle agreement and I have to give them the time to pick up the guests so I pretty much need to decide this weekend. If we extend, the reception ends at 12.
The guests will have full use of the indoor and outdoor space (1 wedding at a time). If its bad weather the CH room is pretty big so eceryone will fit comfortably. Do you think people will be annoyed with a longer CH? FH and I want that time but we don't want people to get antsy. Thanks ladies!

I think the extra half hour is a good idea. If your room is big and there will be plenty of room for everyone to mingle, sit down, etc. then you should be fine making it longer

Cocktail hour always has the best food, so I don't think anyone would be annoyed with the extra time.
I LOVE cocktail hour and I think most people do, so I can't see them getting 'bored' or something for only an extra half hour. As long as there's enough room, I'd go for it!

Ours is 1 1/2 hours and since cocktail hour is usually my favorite food I'm excited this means I will get to actually enjoy some! Go for it!

Such a good idea! It gives you down time, enough time to go around and see people and enjoy the food! 1000000000% go for it! I'm actually going to contact my venue and see if I could do that!

Absolutely! The cocktail hour at Thatched is one of the main attractions (besides the blushing bride of course). I saw show it off and let people really get a taste of everything they have to offer! Let me know what they say...I think I might have to steal this idea!!!

We are doing it! We wanted to limit the gap as much as possible, ceremony is at 2pm, so we are having a hospitality room at 4(limited finger food, coffee and light drinks)then full on cocktail hour from 5-6:30pm. We think it will wok out really well

That's exactly what we are doing!! We didn't want to miss our entire cocktail hour for pictures so we extended it. Everyone loves cocktail hour so it shouldn't be an issue. We are getting married at the hall also - ceremony is 6-630 cocktail hour is 630-8. Good luck!!

YES! This is standard at my venue, which was a big selling point for us. EVERYONE loves cocktail hour, I think it's a no brainer!!!
