should i get a kitten?

i want one so bad but I am scared the kitten will ruin our new furniture. Also we live in a tiny apartment and have no clue where to put the litter box don't know what to do.

You can always adopt a kitten/cat from a shelter who has already been declawed.
Our cat leaves the furniture alone, we keep his nails trimmed and make sure he has lots of good acceptable things to scratch.
You can also buy Soft Paws, which help protect your furniture.

As for the litter box, we live in a small 1 bdr now, and its in the corner of our bedroom. If you clean it really regularly, its not so bad.

Oh!! If you do decide to adopt, please check out the cats at the shelter I used to volunteer for.

YOu might want to adopt a young adult cat because kittens need a lot of stimulation.

My cat really doesn't ruin anything. As long as he has a scratching post, and I trim his nails, he's fine. You can also do things like put double back tape on the furniture for a while to deter them from scratching. This is my first cat, and I am soooo glad I got him! The litter box can go anywhere as long as it stays in the same place all the time. Go for it! I'm a total cat lover now.

yes!! Get a kitten!!! I love kittens!!!

As long as you have a scratching post - the kitten should leave the furniture alone.

We have a pretty small co-op and 2 cats....we keep their litter box in the storage closet and just leave the door open a crack for them to get in and out of. As long as you clean it daily, it will be fine

Yea!! Get a kitten!! They learn to use the litter box very quickly and as far as the furniture- since she will be a baby you can teach her not to do it- u can buy scratching posts and have her scartch there and if she goes by the furtiture u buy a little water gun and u splash her with a little water- that way she learns- Ive got 4 cats at home and the furniture is OK-

I dunno! It's tough in a tiny apartment!

DH bought me 2 kittens quite a few years ago. We were in a 1 bedroom apartment. They totally ruined the couch, clawed it down to the wood and stuffing! We had to put the litter box at the end of the hallway, and put a shower curtain up to hide it!

If I could do it over again, although I LOVE my cats, I wouldn't get them.

The hair is so overwhelming! and they are constantly scratching at everything even though they have scratching posts in every room!

5 years later, we are in a new apartment. Still a 1 bedroom but with NO Hallway like the last one.
We had to buy a room divider and put the litter box in our bedroom! They still claw at the BRAND NEW couch and everything else they can get their little paws on.

If you want a declawed cat(young and female), you can adopt one at the shelter I used to voluneer for. Animals cant talk at 718 393 7535.

ADOPT an older kitten, say 6 months old to 1 year. They're cute, active, but not crazy. Then, go to peta and find the double sided tape they make especially to deter your animal from scratching...
