Should I pay in full? HELP!!

I have the contract in my hands but am finalizing the details...

just spoke to the photgrapher on the phone b/c I recalled that he said if I paid the enitre sum in full I would not need to pay the tax... is there any danger to this? I'd be saving under $200.00, but its non refundable?

HELP let me know what I should do???

Many vendors will save you tax if you pay in cash. But to pay in full BEFORE the wedding? I wouldn't do it. But Jersey has different sales tax laws than NY does - it may make a difference if you have the pictures shipped to a Jersey address. We did that years ago for other family functions.

I think that is the safest bet...I mean, what diff. does it make if you pay in full or not in regard to tax...it's usually if you are willing to pay in cash

I live in NJ and the vendor is in NJ.. I don't know what laws NY or NJ has but i guess its just a promotion in order for him to get the cash up from and for me to save money (that could go towards his tip) i'm skeptical though.. not sure if its worth savings that in the long run should something go wrong.

if you're only saving less than $200, I wouldn't do it.

I would be on the cautious side and just pay the minimum. In the end you aren't really saving that much.

I agree. Most times if you tell them you will make all the payments in cash they can waive the tax for you also.

You've all conviced me not to pay in full. See they don't accept credit cards either cash or check--which to me is the same thing.. so its pretty much only a discount if you pay in full.

If your only saving under $200 I wouldnt do it. My SIL was one of the girls who had her dress in the Franklin Square Bridal Shop that closed up with everyones dresses and money and were no where to be found. They talked her into paying in full when ordering the dress! I know it's a dress shop by why take the chance with any vendor unless you know them personally.JMO

We were offered a discount..no tax when we left the deposit...they never asked us to pay in full

that i not right. if you state that u are paying cash then they should take the deposit and the final payment needs to be cash. You should DEF not pay up front!

If they are asking you to do something illegal so they can defraud the government then I would think twice about using them. Besides if all they are doing is saving you the tax then big deal. What about the 30% or more that THEY are saving by not reporting the income. You save $200 and they save what, $1000 or more? I would stay away. If they are so willing to do underhanded things up front what happens to you later when you are putting your albums together? Your decision!

I wouldn't care if they were taking half the price off - never ever pay everything upfront and in full.

DO NOT DO IT! THE LAST THING YOU NEED IS THEM NOT SHOWING UP, NOT PRINTING YOUR PICTURES, NOT GIVING YOUR DEPOSIT!

IT'S MAJOR SKETCH IN MY OPINION.

I would not pay the entire amount upfront. If anything goes wrong, then you are up the river.

NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER pay in full until you have the finished product in your hands! If you do, they have NO incentive to for example,g et you your album on time or do it right, you have No power over tem once they have your $$
