Should I register for gifts for engagement party?? HELP!!

Do you think it owuld be rude to register and send something witht he invitation? I kind of do but FH said that people will be clueless as what to bring. It's only our immediate families and bridal party so 30 people but I feel so odd inserting the registry info. Is FH right this time? LOL I mean I really didn't even think people would bring gifts but he said Duh, of course they will and I don't wantt htem to feel they have to bring money so should i register for msall things like vases or frames and stuff? Like all things under $50 maybe? What do you ladies think?

I wouldn't include the registry info. I think that while many people will bring you a gift, it is presumptuous to include the card. I didn't have an engagement party, but most of my friends that had one did not include the insert. most people asked them where they were registered and they told them. if its a small party, i think the same would happen for you. Wait til they ask, that's just my opinion. in addition, i dont think people will show up with cash for an engagement party gift.

also, IMO, there are so many opportunities to get gifts off your registry when you are getting married (i.e. shower and wedding). i think it is nice to have a chance to be surprised a little. if its a small party and they are going to be small gifts, i think it would be nice to be surprised, since you won't be for the other wedding events.

ITA!!! It's small enough party that they will either buy you something you may need or give cash. Most people prefer the cash LOL

Register!!! but in my opinion don't include 'where you are registered' in the invite. People will ask either you or your parents and now that it's normal to register they can just look online and find out themselves too.
I registered about 2 weeks after I got engaged and received gifts even before the party was planned. People want to buy you stuff and this way you get what you need.
My advise on registering is to have a wide variety of price ranges. Also, put stuff on there even if you don't want it, you can always return and BBB will give you CASH!

Bed, Bath and Beyond give you cash????? Really? Wow, that is pretty freakin cool!!! I wonder why?

I think you're right. I think I will register and not put it in the invite. That's more like a bridal shower thing. I just didn't want anyone to think they had to give cash and knowing my family thats the first thing that will pop into their mind to give. No one in my family has ever given a physical present for anything related to a wedding. All you see is cards and cards of money and I didn't want them to do that this time. I am using it as the day to ask all 10 of my bridesmaids and 10 groomsmen so thats all I was thinking!

I think you should register if you want to, I kind of agree with your FH though on the inserts... It might be better to save the inserts for your shower. fH and I registered for our e-party and are so happy we did. We just moved into out apartment at that point had nothing! But people asked around where we were registered at so word just spreads I guess! HTH!

I'm not sure if you should put it in the invitation. People who want to buy gifts will regardless if you place where you registered and people who don't won't regardless. I didn't put it in invitations. To be honest I didn't know I was suppose to register. People asked and I was clueless. I registered later and told people who asked. We received a great deal of money that day. I don't know if that helps?

WE registered but didn't include with the invites, but 85% of the people asked where we were registered.... that way you don't get stuff you don't like or want.. i would say we got half in gifts from the registry and half in cash. I think we got like one gift that wasn't on the registry!

I was told to register for our engagement party by a couple who got married a few years ago. I never really thought about it. I still haven't decided what to do cuz I don't want people to feel like they have to bring us a present. Msybe I'll take a few of the bride's advice on here and register but not include it with the invites. That way, if people ask I'll let them know but they don't feel obligated.
