Should I register now? and where?

Should I register now? and where?

The wedding is a year and 5 months away. But we are having our engagement party in 2 months, I do know that most of our guests will give money but I do want to give that option in case someone would prefer to give a gift, although FI would prefer I didn't give them that option lol.

Same for the wedding, I personally never went to a wedding and saw someone give a gift, everyone I know gives money, but like I said before you should have that option for others. The registry would be most useful for the bridal shower.

I am planning on registering no matter what, but should I do it now? FI and I have the afternoon free so I just thought this would be a great thing to do.

Can you suggest places where I should register that you have had good experiences with. I was thinking of doing bed bath and beyond, doing macy's or bloomingdales, and for a third place was thinking of one of these: crate & barrel, pottery barn, I've heard of alot of people doing it at Fortunoff.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. I didn't even think of Linens and things, I'll definitely check them out.

I think today I am gonna go to bed bath and beyond. The others i'll do at another time, first gotta decide what other 2 places.

Re: Should I register now? and where?

I was at Pier 1 the other day and I picked up their little brochure on registering. The brochure suggests that you register no earlier than 2 or 3 months before your event, because their stuff changes so frequently. Oh no! It's my DREAM to have an all-Pier 1 house! I think I'll just have to register there and go back every 3 months and zap more, newer stuff with my scanning gun!

Yeah I was actually just thinking about that. New things come out all the time. But I do wanted to be registered for my e-party so I am gonna do it now. I guess I'll have to do the same thing, just have to update the registry. Oooo Pier 1, that is a good idea.

I registered at Fortunoff's just b/c it's geared towards registering... I also registered at Pfaltzgraff.com for dishes.

I hear that BBB lets you return things off your registry for cash so that might satisfy your FH!

If it helps, here's a link to my registry at Fortunoff:

I registered at Williams & Sonoma for my EP. But for the wedding, I'm registered at Fortunoff's & Crate & Barrel. Also...if you have people in the city Michael C Fina is a great place as well.

Re: Should I register now? and where?

If you don't need to rely on the money for the wedding so much or you want options then register deff.

I have registered before anything (one year five months prior to wedding).

But i took everyones budget in mind for our families. I did Macys and Target. Why spend $150.00 for a toaster at Macys' or anywhere when its at Target for $90. Now target can be a bit extreme for people so I deff. would do linens n things or bed bath and beyond.

IF you really want china (now think of space it takes up and how many times are u really going ot use it) then find the style you like and register there.. usually forts or macys.

Good luck!!!

Re: Should I register now? and where?

Thank you all so much for your suggestions, I really appreciate it. We went today to bed bath & beyond and registered, we went to the one in Manhasset, it's two floors and has a great selection. It definitely is alot of fun walking around the store scanning everything you like.

Yeah now we have a couple of other places in mind, haven't decided yet but some are: macy's bloomingdales, crate & barrel, pottery barn, fortunoff, michael C. Fina, williams & sonoma, pier 1.

I was surprised how much FI was into picking out china, stemware and all that haha it was funny but cute at the same time.

Again thank you for your help

we're registered at Fortunoff and BBB. I love the BBB return policy. I don't think it's too early to register, esp. since the party is coming up.

Yeah I definitely want to check out fortunoff. Yeah thats what i said, it's good to have a registry for the e-party. Most people we know give money but it's good to have that option for anyone who would be interested in giving a gift.

We registered at Macy's because their stuff goes on sale all the time so even some of the most expensive small appliances aren't out of reach for the average person. We also registered at Bloomingdales, but that was only because they give you awesome gifts just for having a registry totalling $10,000. I couldn't see myself sending anyone in our families there because it's just too expensive. We're hoping to get things off the registry for Christmas.

Oh wow bloomingdales does that, that's great. Hmmm definitely gotta check that out.

We registered at BBB for now because we had a lot of people harassing us about registering. However, we'll probably wait till closer to the wedding to register for our china and whatever else we might figure we need. I want to see what new patterns come out and I think we'll register at fortunoff's.

Re: Should I register now? and where?

After I registered I was thinking how nobody is going to buy anything off of it for at least a year. E-party-most people we know give money, but I did it so in case anyone does ask they will have that option. Besides the bridal shower I don't think anyone will buy gifts, so basically this is what the registry will be for.

Re: Should I register now? and where?

We registered at macy's and fortunoff's but just for gifts people can give us at our engagement party. Like vases, bowls, candle sticks. They said everything else can wait till about 9-6 months before. Don't put the registry info in the invite. But if someone calls and asks if you registered then you can tell them. That's what we did/.
