Should I start looking?

Should I start looking?

I am getting married next May & I want to start looking at dresses. I also intend on going on a diet so my sister thinks I should wait to start looking. But I feel that if I see a dress I like & I lose weight the dress would just look better. I never heard anyone say 'gee she would have looked better in that dress if she hadn't lost the weight'. What do you ladies think?

Well lets' see - you are year away. I don't think there is anything wrong with starting to compile tons of magazines and looking through to get an idea what you like and don't like. Maybe visit some sample sales to try things on to get an idea as well. But i would save the major appt. making at the bridal salons for a couple of months!

It depends on how much weight you think you will lose. If you go from a size 10 to an 8, no big deal. But if you go from a size 10 to a 2, then you will have to buy an entirely new dress.

I would wait

In fact, I am waiting! I am getting married next July and I think I will wait until the fall. I am afraid that if I get it too soon, then there will be all these new dresses coming out and I will one of those and regret jumping the gun. Also, I am concerned with getting the major vendors booked first. I figure, when I find a dress I love, even if every other bride on LI buys it, I can still get it, too. Not so with a DJ or a photographer.

But, if you really want to start now, I say go for it and enjoy!

I am getting married next april, and I already ordered my gown. I wasnt big into shopping for it, I only tried on like 7 dresses. But I knew that it was 'THE DRESS' so I ordered it. I also am on a diet and plan to lose a dress size or two, dont stress. IF you find something you love just order it!

The worst that can happen is that you get the dress and get it taken in. I am on weight watchers and I have no problem with having it taken in more, just order a larger size. It is better that they can make it smaller than having the opposute and not having it fit. Good luck on the diet and the dress search. My sister swears by Estelles on Rt 110, I am going there today with my future MIL (fun, fun, fun I mean that sarcastically) If you want I wil report back, my sisters dress was 400.00 2 years ago and it was beautiful.

I would wait a little while. It is still early. With so much time until your wedding yu may get something and then see something else that you really love. I am getting married this August and started looking for dresses in January. I finally ordered in February. It took 5 weeks to come in and It's been sitting in my closet ever since. I will get it altered in June.
