Should I worry?

Should I worry?

For those who follow my stories here on LIW....My aunt was making me a second dress for the wedding. She was also doing the alterations and bustle on my gown! She went back to PR and promised me she would return in June for the wedding...I knew I shouldn't have asked but I did anyway.....Well I found out, she had other plans in PR like sell her house, and move God knows where. That would mean she wouldn't be stable and probably won't return to NY. I know there are tons of seamstresses in NYC, but I don't trust anyone. Should I wait until June to get my dress altered and bustle by a stranger? (could anyone recommend one?) or should I just be patient and wait for my aunt's reply?

I think you should start looking into seamstresses here in the NY area. I am sure your Aunt wants to do it and very well may end up being the one who alters your dress, but you do not want to be stuck with an unaltered dress a few weeks before the wedding. My wedding is exactly one week before yours and I already had my first fitting.

Do you need a lot of alterations? If not, wait to hear from your aunt, but definitely research some seamstresses. Check out the bride's review for recommendations.

Good Luck!!

That must be so stressful! I would try to wait a week or two to hear back from your aunt but in the meantime contact some seamstresses. I have heard wonderful things about Phyllis from Bridal Elegance. Maybe give her a call???

I would look into finding a seamstress just in case your aunt does not do it. Most likely she will, but you need to have the option (just in case)

Agreed - I would start to look for a backup just in case.
