Should Mother of the Bride & Mother of the Groom Dresses Coordinate?

Are both of your mothers wearing the same colors or similar colored dresses?

Ours are - completely by accident though! I've seen it both ways at weddings, and I definatly don't think its necessary

my mom's dress is like an aqua, and FH's mom's dress is a purplish color, and my bm's dresses are 'rouge', so I think it all pretty much clashes

They don't have to be the same color, I think traditionally the MOB picks her dress color 1st and then the MOG picks hers so that they compliment each other well.

My mom is looking for a mauve or neutral color and FH's aunt (standing in for his mom) is looking at a dress in cranberry. HTH!!

My mom, MIL, and both grandmas wore silver dresses. The groomsmen wore silver vests and ties under the tuxedos and my BMs wore pink.

I see no need for them to match or coordinate. Just how many pictures are they going to be in together? There is maybe the ONE picture of both families together and then MAYBE the one picture of the bride with both of the mothers alone.

Mine aren't, mom is wearing black and FMIL is wearing navy blue. They should compliment the colors of the bridesmaids.

Mine arent going to be similar colors but they will compliment one another. I think ettiquete (sp?) says that the MOB gets to pick her dress first and then the MOG should choose her after

I couldn't care less.....my FMIL already has her dress, and my mother will wait until the last minute anyway!!

Nope. And I don't agree that they should match the bridesmaids either. That is the color you picked for your day.... not for everyone to share.

My mom is in champange. His mom is in a laverder-bluish color. I didn't care - his mom was more concerned about it than I was.

If the mothers can coordinate with each other and with the bridal party than that's great, but it's not neccesary. My girls wore cranberry, my MIl wore champagne and my mom wore a brownish color.

My mom and his mom are wearing diffirent colors. I don't think that they need to, it's nice when everybody stand out in there own way. Have them decide.
