Should she be allowed to attend?

Should she be allowed to attend?

Ok, I asked my parents friends (a Mr. and Mrs. ) to my wedding. The Mr. is afraid of airplanes, and doesn't want to attend. However, the Mrs. wants to attend but bring her daughter instead of the husband.

I am no longer friends with the daughter and I wasn't invited to her wedding. Isn't it kind of rude for the Mrs. to bring the daughter with her without asking? It isn't like I am going to say no, but still...

I personally dont like to travel alone....some bad past experiences. So if I was going to an out of state wedding and Ken couldn't come with me...I might want to take someone else along so that I wouldn't have to travel alone...plus I will know at least one other person at my table....I wouldn't be upset that she is bringing her daughter...unless there is some bad vibes going on there.

I completely agree...unless, you don't want to invite Mr. & Mrs. all together.

ok, thanks all. Just wondering - there are no hard feelings from me towards her daughter...we have just grown apart. It will be fine if she attends...I was just wondering about the etiquette of it all.

the issue that I had (when this happened to me) was that it opened up the can of worms about 'why wasn't my son invited?' 'why was that 'kid' allowed to come, but mine wasn't?'

personally, it annoys me when you invite Mr. Joe and Mrs. Joe specifically and when Mr. Joe can't attend Mrs. Joe asks to bring someone else in his place... i think that is rude... If FH was invited to a wedding and I couldnt go i think he should either attend alone or not go at all, not ask if he can bring someone else in my place... jmo

I couldn't agree more-you invited two people, not one person and 'guest'...I understand her not wanting to travel alone, but it is rude to call and ask if you can someone in place of the person that was invited.

ETA: does anyone else invited know this woman? How old is her daughter? Will it make table arrangements more difficult?

is the only other option she doesn't come then? Because I'd rahter her and a guest come then not her at all. Personally, You invited 2 people to come, 2 people are still coming. She'll probably have fun with her daughter and it allows her to be there for you.
