Should the top of your bridesmaid dresses be like your dress?
Example: If mine is strapless, should theirs be strapless? Does it look better in pics?

I would pick out dresses that look the best on the girls not to match your dress!

yep that's what I did.
I only wanted the shape to look similar but not the same.. I have an A line dress I wanted them in an A line dress as well. Difference is I have a puffy slip they don't.
Im so glad I decided to let them choose what was comfy (and yes, all my girls are wearing the same dress) it took time and TONS of dresses tried on in three states no less! but it was worth it. Now I know they'll at least USE this $100 again! Two are young enough to have High School & College Formals (one's a freshman in HS the other a Jr in College).
At first I wanted them the same but they do NOT have the same shoulders I do! It looked ugly as sin on my SIL.

i personally think that matching necklines look best in pics, but if the rest of the dress is not flattering on the girls the top will be the least of your worries...

I don't think they have to match. Many people do try to match it, but I don't think I will. I think it's all a personal preference.

i thought about it, but then felt limited. i just looked for a dress that they could wear again and would look good on everyone. it just happens that their dress and my dress (except Jr BM) are strapless

I think dresses that match the neckline of your gown do look the best. But keep in mind that you want the girls to look good in the photos (but not better than you, remember that). LOL!

I agree... matching necklines look very nice in pictures... that is what i did but i am sure if the BM are different it would still look beautiful
if the BM can wear the same it looks nice but if not get what looks best

it probably looks nice and even in pictures but you should def. pick a dress that looks best of your girls and go from there- either way they are going to look great and coordinating.

I let my girls pic out what they looked best in & felt mst comfortable wearing. They all wore different dresses & no one had the same straps as me except my MOH... I liked the way it looked in my pics....
