should we have a rehearsal dinner???

even though there won't be a 'rehearsal'??

i'm wondering if we should even have a RD....we're getting married at the reception site, and will be doing a quick 'rehearsal' 1/2 hour before the ceremony. should we have a RD? we've got some people in the wedding party coming from NJ, and all the way out east (we're in queens)....so i'm thinking if we do end up having a RD, it would be something low key the weekend before (so everyone can travel).....what do you all think?

yay or nay on the RD?

thanks bunches!

We are rehearsing just before the rehearsal dinner, so we have to. That will also be the first opportunity my parents and FH's parents will have to meet. We also have some out of town family of FH's that we want to welcome and host the first night, so it's very important to us.

If you don't have to have a rehearsal the day before and don't have any other reason to, it's not necessary to have a RD just for the sake of hosting one. You're hosting a wedding! It's enough.

Y-NOT! It's a good reason to get together with all the people closest to you and have a little party.

if y ou have the money then i would say YES .. your wedding is only 5 hours long, its nice to see everyone close to you the night before and really enjoy everyone all together!!!!

We are not having one--we don't have the money and are getting married at the RH, so why bother?

Maybe a BBQ if we get it together the week of, but probably not.

I prob would still want a dinner, but its totally up to you! even if its nothing fancy a little dinner with whoever can make it! obvi it wouldnt be a big deal if someone in your BP couldnt make it. but its kinda nice just to do a little some thing the night before to get your mind off of wedding!

We didnt have one. We got married at the RH so there was no rehearsal. I mean i would have like to have one but we didnt have the extra $$$ and we met with the guys individually and gave them there gifts so it was kinda special cause it was one on one and the bridesmaids were all my sisters so i gave them there gifts the night before the wedding cause we were all together at my moms. If you want to have one I say go for it but dont feel like you need to have one. jmo

I'm in the same boat as you. We're also getting married @ the RH and rehearsing the day-of. I don't think the RD is really necessary, in our case. However, you could always do something low key like having the BP over and ordering some food. That's what we're considering doing.

The choice is yours.

i think if you have the money to def do it. even if its a low key kind of thing. we really enjoyed spending time with the bridal party and our parents the night before the wedding, it got everyone all excited and really had a great time.

I'm not...all of our BP is from NY (we see them all the time) and we all have a lot of running around to do the day b4 so we are just not doing one.

I'm thinking of having a backyard BBQ or ordering pizza and heros but having something at home. I may even scratch the whole RD all together. We're getting married at the RH and dont really have the extra $$ to spend.

If you have gifts for your b-party this would be the place to distribute them, so I would if you can swing it. But if you want to save the money then its a good place to cut back. FILs are paying for ours.

we were in the same situation ... we decided to have a rehearsal dinner where we could all get together and give the bridal party their gifts ... but you need to do whats best for the two of you!

we are also having a quick rehearsal the morning of the wedding but we wanted our bridal party to meet each other before the day of. many of them don't really know everyone, so we are having a BBQ the day before the wedding. It will give everyone a chance to meet and we can give them all their gifts....
