shouldn't even be annoyed by this......

shouldn't even be annoyed by this......

I shouldn't be annoyed by this but I am so I came on here to vent it to the only other brides 2 be that could understand...

Our E Party/Dinner invites went out last thursday and I know people are starting to get them! I was waiting for my MOH to say something to me... she's like my bestest friend in the world since we were 9 years old..... and she hadn't said anything yet.. so i finally text her today and ask her if she got it because I thought it was odd... and she said yea i got it in the mail.... and then texted back 2 minutes later.. it's addressed to me but wasn't sure if I could bring a guest.....
she just started dating this guy like a month ago..... but they are pretty serious so I was going to tell her to bring him.. but i wasn't putting AND GUEST on for everyone because some of my single girlfriends aren't dating anyone and it's a dinner at a restaurant not a FORMAL where you would always put AND GUEST.....
We are doing a party at a restaurant.. about 55 people... which is immediate family (grandparents, parents, aunts uncles, first cousins, and bridal party)
But I just thought that my MOH should be MORE EXCITED about it and less concerned about bringing a guest.....

Is it just me?

see i would be that type of person too

if i just started dating someone and was going to my BFF party ...realted to a weddingi would be like almost jealous...but thats not the word...

...lol u dont wanna seem alone and left out ya know?

but then again that was wrong of her to just assume that too!

I don't want ANYONE to feel ALONE... we just aren't doing AND GUEST for everyone because it's a 'dinner' not a huge party.. and we are just keeping it intimate...... but knowing that she is getting serious with the guy...i was going to say something to her like 'bring him' but she didn't aknowledge getting the invite.... prob. because it didn't say AND GUEST just thought that as an MOH you are supposed to be excited for this stuff..
I know i was when i was in bridal parties....

I don't know if this applies to your situation at all, but I've noticed that my married or engaged friends are a lot more excited about my wedding planning than my single friends, and I don't think it has anything to do with jealousy, they just don't get what an exciting time this is for us b/c they haven't been there. Since getting engaged, I love hearing about other people's wedding plans, but a year or two ago, I really didn't care about these things. So I wouldn't be too offended if she's not that excited yet, it sounds like she's in a different place in her life and maybe she doesn't realize what an exciting time this is for you.

Here is what I did b/c I was in a similar situation......FH invited a co-worker who started dating some girl. When we were doing the invited for our e-party....I told him to go to work and ask his co-worker what her name was so we could put her name on the invite. 1. it helped b/c then when she showed up we knew her name and 2. when they gave us a gift and a card she was included on it and I think it made her feel more comfortable about being there instead of just being 'a guest' or not included on the invite.

I just think it keeps the peace.

As far as being excited......that is exactly why I only wanted my family members and none of my friends b/c when it comes to important stuff I've noticed friends are just not there the same way.

Sorry

i totally understand what you are feeling... but its probably because i'm a fellow bride to be. she's not thinking about it the way you are (so excited to be planning, and now starting your wedding events). she's probably feeling that her boyfriend is getting pushed aside (especially because she's the MOH)

talk to her about it and see if you can each understand the other's perspective. she's your best friend!

good luck!

honestly, no one is going to be as excited about our weddings than us brides, it's just a fact. even our MOH, BMs, heck even our closest family members. there may be a few people who are excited for you, but i'd say most are just mildly interested (but always happy for you) .... haha and you just have to learn to understand that.

even if you were excited for your friends' weddings...not everyone's like that. HTH
