well ladies, i am starting to realize that i need to begin to cut corners in wedding costs. i honestly think the best place is CP's. i am not a huge flower person...and could care less about but huge oversized CP's (no offense to anyone else who has them)...since they will die anyway.
can you please post pics of CP's that are either non-floral or very floral minimal. oh and yes i realize i might be able to save $$ on silk flowers, but i'm not really feeling those either!

I don't know that i have a pic uploaded here yet...but all we had for CPs were rose petals around small hurricanes with candles and then some votives around that. it looked great. in total i think they cost around $300 total for 18 tables.
i bought the votives in jars from ac moore but ONLY when they were half price.
ETA--we used real petals b/c i had a hard time findign silk/fake ones that I liked that were priced within my range.

The first pic is what we made, the petals were fake.
I was just there last week, and saw an AWESOME centerpiece idea....its a long row of square votive holders (maybe 5 or 6- PERFECT for an oblong or rectangle table) in a wrought iron rack. It was under $20. Put some color-themed candles in there, add some rose petals, and VOILA- awesome CP! (I already checked their website, its not on there. I saw it in the store though!)
Also, try Walmart for candle stands like that. They tend to get a lot in as the holidays get closer, and they're pretty and inexpensive!
I got my CPs at BJ's, of all places. After Christmas last year, they were on clearance for under $25 each (including tax). I think they're really pretty, and I think guests will enjoy bringing them home to use as holiday CPs on their dining room tables
They're pretty big - I think 14 or 16' in diameter...and it came with all the teardrop holders and the tealights to put inside. I'm putting red rose petals around them, and I'm also using votice placecards, so there will be LOTS of candles!

Re: Show me your NON-FLOWER CP's Please!!!!
I didn't want to spend money on floral centerpieces, but I still like flowers, so we decided to get pots of mums from a local nursery, and slide each into a basket they sold at the nursery (to cover the ugly-looking plastic pot). It's easy and pretty cheap - $5 for the pots of mums and $9 per basket, so $14 per centerpiece. So we get a big bunch of flowers without having to pay $65 per table, which is what our florist quoted us for low centerpieces.

The first pic is what we made, the petals were fake.
The second pic is another idea.
We are using the first picture also! We got the vases at AC Moore for 10 bucks each (even cheaper when they go on sale or they have a coupon). And we are using white candles from Wal-Mart. They are acutally 60 hour emergency candles..so they'll last for a long time. The florist is going to put them together and sprinkle rose pedals. We aren't using the mirror on the bottom.

Here is what we are doing - still have to work on the ivy, I just threw that together as an idea.
