I don't want to have a bridal shower...I just bought my own house and I really don't need a new toaster...I would rather not have people buy me things I don't need. I was reading in a magaize, where you could sign up for an account...like a registry, where people could contribute money to your honeymoon as a gift. I have 2 questions....1) Is this tacky? 2) How would I go about telling people that this registry exists?
I've had a few people ask me already where we are registered so that they could send us an engagement gift. Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful...thanks.
I'm going to say that if you don't register...you will get things you do not need/want...
why not register at Sears or Home Depot? upgrade your pots and pans...register for new sheets and towels...all OXO good grips...there are fun things that you can do...
I know that there are some honeymoon registries that set up a dinner for you or a scuba lesson...I don't know what it is, but that is ok...I don't like asking for guests to deposit cash...

Re: Shower?
I have to be honest...my cousin did this where she and her husband registered for their honeymoon, and we just thought it was tacky. Not to mention we were probably the only people who went ahead and put money towards it. Everyone else just bought her crap that she didn't want. I would go with yabbobay's suggestion and register somewhere at least. I mean, you say you have a new house, so chances are you need SOME things, no? As for not wanting a shower, I understand, but it's also like ritual we go through. A right of passage. Why not ask for donations to a charity in lieu of gifts? That's a nice option.
